Just a quick reminder, there is an excellence roundtable today, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM, at the City Club.
Please stop by to brainstorm on the power of NEO's virtual community, which spans the world and is far underleveraged here at home. The outcome of these discussions will be plans for an excellence roundtable we shall hold in New York, NY, August 11, at Jones Day's offices there. The purpose of extending roundtables beyond Cleveland is to better connect our interests here with the more powerful networks found beyond our physical borders.

 Congressman Barney Frank
Massachusetts 4th Congressional District
Congressman Barney Frank, representative of his district since 1981, is the most prominent openly gay politician in the United States and is known for his witty candor and his dedication to liberal causes.
Frank had been in Washington six years before he “came out to his colleagues and the nation in 1987. Frank’s constituency has voted him back into office 12 times. Most recently he has introduced legislation that would allow unmarried federal government employees to apply for benefits for their domestic partners.
As a Jewish American, Frank believes in making a commitment to achieving peace in the Middle East that will fully protect Israel’s right to exist as a secure, Jewish democratic state. He also supports direct aid to the Palestinian Authority.
As the senior Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, Frank’s big issues include the GSE bill and housing policy generally, predatory lending, OCC preemption, data security and consumer protection.
Prior to the U.S. Congress, Frank was a Massachusetts State Representative and an assistant to the Mayor of Boston. He has also taught at several Boston area universities. Frank received a BA and his JD from Harvard University.

Dialogues on Leadership New Leaders Only
Christopher M. Carmody
President, Greater Cleveland Film Commission
Start: 10:30 am
The last few weeks have seen the subject of education reach front and center across Northeast Ohio. Public school funding, the end of the BBB era and the hyper-politicizing of the selection of her successor, and the realization we need progress educating the region's children are all important drivers for discussion. The NEO Excellence Roundtable has maintained an ongoing dialogue on such key issues impacting economic development in Northeast Ohio, which we will broaden beginning at the August 16th session.
Start: 4:30 pm
The
total community health of Northeast Ohio is affected by the
transportation choices we make daily to get from point A to
point B. What mode of travel we choose, which fuels and technologies
we use, and where we locate our businesses relative to mass
transit stations are just a few examples of the choices we face.
MapQuest won’t help us make these sustainability choices!
