As a young child, my parents owned 4 different homes on West 34th Street between Sackett and Meyer Avenues. I shall forever have fond memories of growing up on West 34th Street, knowing all the families on that street, and having the luxury of sustaining relationships with the families I grew up with from then until now.....
Over the last couple years, I have watched that street become decimated. I have watched the gross social injustices be affectuated on the people who have come to own properties on that street....all directly down the lane from the Boys & Girls Club and within Walking distance to the Lincoln West High School and Meyer Pool and Metro Hospital.
Today, I bumped into the family who purchased the home from my parents back in the 1980's. It turns out that their home at 3283 West 34th Street had an "ELECTRICAL" fire back in February. The results of the fireman poking holes in the roof and walls were complete destruction.
Since the fire, they have been met with extraordinary circumstances in redressing the issues that followed including having their insurance company pay the city of Cleveland over $11,000 for a demo back in February that was not completed....and then dealing with new housing violations thereafter... When they went back to the City to sign over the home to the CITY OF CLEVELAND LANDBANK, they were deferred back to the Demo Department. Upon investigation, a rep told them that there was only $5,000.00 in escrow for the DEMO and that the other funds were unaccountable. ?????
Interestingly, they are faced with housing violations all these months later and they are given the run around beyond words.
More interesting than this was the fact that when I went to take photos of the property, I found housing violation citations posted on the front door and on the front door of the garage with the address of ANOTHER PROPERTY ON THEM!!!!!
Within an hour, there was yet another investigative reporter hot on this story and the street itself. Then, the dump trucks for another house that was being demo'd today showed up and then another reporter showed up and then here came the Code Enforcement officer who had the audacity to say to me that this was "all good, right!" (I guess it is good from his perception....progress in that they were demo'ing the properties that had become blighted after years of extraordinary neglect and refused services from the City of Cleveland City Council & Community Development )
I personally question several of the matters herein. I find it appalling, abusive, and disruptive to my existence that these leaders have disempowered and devoured our community at large for their plans of making our city a big "GREEN" pot.... Destroying the melting pot that once made it so colorful and beautiful!
REGIMES of power, come and go---but at the end of the day, the 2020 VISION of demo'ing half the inner city is well on its way to success....and yet the people just have no idea while they steadily react to code enforcement, political retaliation, and incompetence from the multidimensional departmental structure of the city of Cleveland. It's all a disgrace.... and which companies have those demo contracts?
Today's demo team was from "BAUMANN ENTERPRISES, INC." Rumors have it that they have even knocked down houses that had been pulled from demo lists because the communication between all parties and players is so bad. It's a sad day in Cleveland as we look forward to thousands more of these demos!!!!
If you own real estate here, pay attention to their little underground of collusion between City Council, Code Enforcement Officers driven by the City Council throughout their funded Community Development Corporations, and the City Inspectors and Judge Raymond Pianka of the Housing Court. Who can you trust???? NO ONE! They truly believe that they are building up our city...but the truth is their practices over the last 35 years are what have DESTROYED our great city!!!!
Now, they are on their last corners of gentrification.... push out the less than desirables, eradicate the blight that they empowered, and clear the land for urbran farming! They are actually EXCITED to look down the road at thier own progress...
I hope that they accomplish their mission...but at the end of the day, I take it personally.... you all were living large, building up Tremont, Ohio City, Edgewater, Detroit Shoreway for the past couple decades and now all the remnants are south of Lorain and you all are living it up demo'ing the leftovers..... for your next phase of development...but you wouldn't help the families in need, now would you?
Inspector David Hilliard must have been "LOST" when he posted this citation on 3283 West 34th Street, Cleveland Ohio 44109 when the actual violation list says: "3526 Seymour Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44113"... It makes me wonder if the owner of the other property in question, Tera Mitler, and TDM One LTD of 13938 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 have even received notice of their property violations which are posted on the wrong house.....???? It is a four page list of violations and all...posted on the wrong house!!!
I am disappointed, saddened, and aware of the direct impact that the "PHILANTHROPIC" neglect has empowered in Ward 14 directly...corruption, corruption, corruption.... pay to play, buddies filling the pockets of buddies in CDC's, and target enforcement on those who have spoken up against these regimes.... More of the same old same old....extraordinary...and the young yuppies with their big educations and ideas come in rearing to fill positions at these organizations, wet behind the ears, and lacking any true comprehension about how our funds have been diverted out of our ward for over 10 years!!!! Our funds go to pay for "CODE ENFORCEMENT!" What a joke!!! hope you all love your jobs! The quotas of citizens supporting any CDC in Ward 14 are NOT LEGITIMATE quotas...you are steering those who are blind about your practices!!! The real citizens quit supporting your corrupt practices and moved out long ago...or they became targets of your affection and have lived through the drudgery you have slated for their futures! SHAMEFUL! TOO MANY COINCIDENCES IN THESE LAUNDRY LISTS....too many!!!
