Earthquake drill planned Feb. 7 across Central United States

More than 2 million people across the South and Midwest are expected to take part in an earthquake-preparedness drill Feb. 7.

The Great Central U.S. ShakeOut Earthquake Drill is planned in connection with Earthquake Awareness Month, which has been proclaimed in Kentucky by Gov. Steve Beshear.

The 2013 ShakeOut is being organized by the Central United States Earthquake Consortium, which includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The preparedness drill will begin at 10:15 a.m. Central Time on Feb. 7.
