It was somewhat reassuring to note today's PD article [1] on City Economic Development Director Chris Warren's strategy for regional economic development. In broad strokes the plan calls for main facets we have been advocating for years now: more collaborative (synergy building) joint ventures, shared tax systems, smart, green, energy efficient design standards like LEED, and revitalization of abandoned property. Validation is sweet.
As the article points out, this is a great deal to shoot for mid-term for the Jackson adminsitration , which expires 2009, but a start it most certainly is. As I've always maintained talk is one thing, and action entirely another. We shall see if this is, indeed the Action Jackson administration to kick things off the right way for the right region and reason.
