March of Crimes
Post No Bills. No Skateboarding. Vandals Will
Be Prosecuted. No Trespassing.
The March of Crimes exhibition is a collection of artists inspired
by and involved in activities the general public and/or law enforcement consider
criminal. From political street art to skateboarding to graffiti, up-and-coming
artists Nick Zaremba, Bob Peck, Ali Calis, and Grant Smrekar's work reflects
contemporary society and itâs issues through unconventional artistic
methods.
Nick Zaremba uses mixed media to express his ideas about coding,
semiotics, composition, subliminal messaging, pop culture, and the conceptual
aspects of iconography.
Bob Peck tells his story with spray can and marker in-hand. He
takes over a decade of graffiti experience and applies it creating art filled
with depth, motion and abstract messaging.
Ali Calis melds his painting, graphic design & woodworking
skills and the radiuses and transitions of the structures he has skateboarded to
create a dialogue about the environment that surrounds him.
Self-trained Grant Smrekar's stencil pieces make a bold and
sometimes controversial statement by reflecting the political climate in the US,
the European anarchist movement and Latin American protest art.
