Americans and people around the world, who follow current events in America, are today digesting George Bush's veto of House Bill 801 [1], killing the Congressionally approved expansion of stem cell research in America. People who think are trying to understand what that veto means for the future of scientific research and health care in America and around the world. Once viewed as a progressive nation, for better and worse founded on exploration of “new frontiers”, America's withdrawal from serious scientific and medical research is perplexing and in ways troubling to those hoping to help cure diseases and save lives globally. I learned about the veto on the BBC news and the look of bewilderment on the British reporter's face was all telling... “what the hell is going on with America these days”, he was thinking. Perhaps he doesn't realize, American political and economic policy is now entirely based on "Rapturenomics".
Rapturenomics is an extension of Reagonomics [2], being economics for the privileged ones (also known as "Voodoo" economics, according to first president George Bush). Rapturenomics is more specifically economics for the chosen ones - Christians - based on the fundamental beliefs all Christians will be taken from Earth by Jesus Christ into Heaven prior to the Second Coming of Christ, when all others will die (and suffer in Hell, of course). Whereas David Stockman, a key player in selling the Reagan administration's supply-side "pay for itself" claims to Congress, admitted in a 1981 Atlantic Monthly article that the 1981 tax cut "was always a Trojan horse to bring down the top [tax] rate" for the wealthy", Rapturenomic policy in America is defined, in Bush's speech today [3] striking down HB 801, as "staying true to the ideals of a decent and humane society", as individually determined by George Bush.
There is fundamentalist economic policy genius in Bush's immediate stem cell position that is very consistent with his actions throughout his presidency, being designed for global ethnic cleansing and annihilation of all non-Christians in preparation for the rapture. Bush therefore eases Jesus Christ's burden of importing from Heaven the fire and brimstone for sending to hell all non-believers in his post-rapture second-coming, making Bush an extraordinary Christian. In this idyllic sense, Rapturenomics is a very beautiful and efficient global economic policy certainly appreciated on-high.
Knowing the rapture is coming, it thus makes sense to horde all wealth among Christians, directly kill non-believers, promote “crusades” to ignite and inflame all possible conflict among and killing of as many non-Christians as possible, and eliminate spending of Christian money on such non-Christian pursuits as public education and health care for the masses. As Bush said, again in has brief HR 801 veto speech, “If this bill were to become law, American taxpayers for the first time in our history would be compelled to fund the deliberate destruction of human embryos. Crossing this line would be a grave mistake and would needlessly encourage a conflict between science and ethics that can only do damage to both and harm our Nation as a whole.” This is an interesting distinction, between killing the cells of an embryo in medical research versus killing the cells of a fully formed human death-row inmate, or 100,000s of humans in war, or enabling American industry to kill billions with fire and brimstone, as the largely non-Christian world at large suffers of often easily treated diseases and starvation. The embryo could become a good Christian, whereas the other policies pursue determined non-believers. The rapture shall pluck away the good, and Christ will kill the bad anyways, so it is best to decrease the surplus population now, again saving Christ undue effort in the second coming.
Bush is in very safe territory with this economic policy, as it has been the foundation for genocide of billions of non-believers over time. From Bush: “as science brings us ever closer to unlocking the secrets of human biology, it also offers temptations to manipulate human life and violate human dignity. Our conscience and history as a Nation demand that we resist this temptation.” Bush certainly knows America's and Christianity's histories are of killing non-Christians, so, in Bush's spirituality, genocide is not only allowed but the scripture of our president. He declared the war on terror a “Crusade” and all his actions to kill by war, pollution, inadequate health care and neglect of non-Christian's rights is entirely consistent with Christian history, meaning the only issues are how to conduct genocide as cost effectively as possible. AIDS and the current conflict in the Middle East, increasingly being non-Christians killing each other, are perfect solutions. The ultimate economics genius, that George Bush! What will he think of next? Oh, that's right, making global scientific research all about rapture.
"Rapture [4]" comes from the Latin verb rapere which means "to carry off, abduct, seize or take forcefully" (compare rape)... From Bush: [5] "This crusade, this war on terrorism is gonna take awhile" Bush said."We will rid the world of the evil-doers" he said... "You either respond and rip them up, help us rip them up, get rid of them, or you will suffer consequences" he said.
