Ray Holan
is a man on a quest, a Cleveland entrepreneur inspired by the gas crisis
of the 1970s, to begin a lifelong search for a reasonable alternative
to gasoline as a fuel source. And he just may have found it in biodiesel.
Holan’s
start-up company, Biodiesel Cleveland, formed in 2002, in partnership
with Great Lakes Brewery, recovers waste oil from local restaurants,
runs it through several processing steps, and then markets the resultant
fuel-concentrate to businesses such as NASA and the Cleveland Metroparks
which use it to power maintenance equipment, tractors and other off-road
          vehicles.
