Blue Mind

Why does being near water set our minds and bodies at ease?

A landmark book by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols on the remarkable effects of water on our health and well-being. Why are we drawn to the ocean each summer? Why does being near water set our minds and bodies at ease? In BLUE MIND, Wallace J. Nichols revolutionizes how we think about these questions, revealing the remarkable truth about the benefits of being in, on, under, or simply near water. Combining cutting-edge neuroscience with compelling personal stories from top athletes, leading scientists, military veterans, and gifted artists, he shows how proximity to water can improve performance, increase calm, diminish anxiety, and increase professional success. BLUE MIND not only illustrates the crucial importance of our connection to water-it provides a paradigm shifting "blueprint" for a better life on this Blue Marble we call home. -

Water makes us Happy

Image above is Frostburg Pool in Frostburg, MD.  It is an amazing oasis offering tranquility and at other times - allowing a place for families to splash and laugh - and for kids to be kids - performing silly antics on the diving board.  Our own community, here in CLE, does not know how to find that balance.  But, I will commend AJ at Lincoln Park Pool in Tremont.  He has straightened out his crew and while he can not control the people who show up to use the pool - he can set standards.  It was ALMOST as lovely yesterday to hear water from the splash area crash down like a wave in it is to be at the pool in Frostburg, MD.

And - here is an image for you from a few years back-

You will be seeing the pool header for a month or at REALNEO - just so that the folks who are managing this site - can get away from the computer this summer.  But, the archive is here - and crimes are slowing being exposed as folks find the content here.  Find a cool pool.  Be happy.

B is for Ball

Crazy as it may seem - a ball is probably the easiest way to make a kid happy.  Preferably, a RED ball :)
