Ozzy and Observer two interesting new examples of Drupal sites doing heavy lifting

It is always exciting to see powerful uses of the technology we use for realneo - Drupal. Derek recently pointed out that the New York Observer uses Drupal for their web presence and I just found a posting on the website of the originator and keeper of the Drupal flame, Dries Buytaert, that Ozzy uses Drupal - his label Sony uses Drupal. I'd heard that about Sony, but hadn't connected it with any of their sites before... this...

Ozzy osbourne<

From Dries website: Ozzy Osbourne, lead singer of Black Sabbath, man of tattoos, and bat-biting Prince of Darkness, is now using Drupal at ozzy.com. Rock!

The site was built by Sony BMG. To learn more about how Sony is using Drupal, listen to this Lullabot podcast with Doug Gottlieb of Sony BMG.

Fresno Famous interesting comparison with realneo

I was doing some research on newspapers using Drupal for their online editions - the most important being the New York Observer - and I came across Fresno Famous, a Drupal social network for Fresno, CA, that is very effective in many ways - interesting model to look at as we evolve realneo. I don't really like their theme and use of ads but the community involvement is strong.

What do you think of these two sites?

Disrupt IT

coincidentally...

I met the project manager for the Sony Music project at DrupalCamp this past weekend.  He did a presentation about Branding in Drupal.  I got to kibbutz with him for a bit because we were a couple of the token Americans LOL!

Fresno Famous got taken over by the Fresno Bee and I met a developer for that project as well out in Sunnyvale.

See, Drupal is one big family.   This is why I like to work with Drupal.
