So what is your platform?
Not that I can vote for you, I'm curious if you have a platform or key issues you want to present to Tremont residents and workers, who I believe may vote.
What will you do or change if you are on the board?
Question is open to all candidates!
And who may vote, when and how?
Disrupt IT
For one thing the board is
For one thing the board is not fairly or equally balanced. There are technically ten (10) block clubs in Tremont - and there should be at least one (1) representative from each block club, with voting powers, on the board. If I'm not mistaken some years back it was that way.
Another issue, is that most all board members are highly educated professional individuals, that also leaves an unfair representation of those in the community that do not have college degrees or professional jobs, say a stay at home mom, etc.
Third, we need at least one neighborhood old-timer on the board - someone that has been a homeowner in this area, say more that forty or fifty years - then you have a more rounded balance.
eligible Tremont voters
are individuals, 18 or older, who either live or work in Tremont (TWDC salaried staff are excluded).
"A person wishing to be a member of TWDC must do the following:
A. Attend a meeting of TWDC or sponsored group, committee, or club or come to the TWDC office;
B. Fill out a registration card (registration of new members who would be eligible to vote at the annual meeting is closed for a period of thirty (30) days prior to the date of the annual meeting.)"
from the bylaws: http://www.tremontwestdevelopment.com/twdc_bylaws.htm
It isnt really clear if just attending a block club meeting triggers the eligibility or if you have to ask to fill out a card. Anyone who tried to go into the office to register in the final week leading up to the deadline would have had difficulty because the office was locked all that week, during business hours.
Herb Crowther
Hello dbra,
Mr. Crowther is on the TWDC board. He doesn't live in Tremont, so how does he "work" in Tremont?
Do you know?
I will email him in the next few days to find out!
If you attend your
If you attend your residential block club and sign the attendance roster then you are a member of TWDC and are eligible to vote. You can also attend a TWDC sponsored group or committee and as long as you sign in you can vote at the annual election. If you do not wish to participate in a block club, committee or any type of group, and you live or work in the Tremont neighborhood, you can go into the office and fill out a registration card. This must be done before the cut-off date which is thirty (30) days prior to the election date.
As far as the locked door, I don't know what's up with that. It's even locked when you go there for meetings. I mean the entire front of the building is glass as well as the door - so it's not like they can't see who's coming in. I went there tonight for a meeting and there were several members, stoutly men, sitting around the table so it's not like someone was in there alone and afraid, yet my sister-in-law and I had to wait until someone got up and unlocked the door.

Dr. Bronner Soap
I hereby endorse Guy Templeton Black for the board, although I would like to see the whole institution get canned. Guy are you really Dr. Bronner? :)
lmcshane, we think alike.
lmcshane, we think alike. Guy Templeton has my vote. At least he's transparent. As far as canning the institution - that should have been done a long time ago. That's the first demolition that ought to be done in 2009 -
