HAPPY EASTER, 2018!
OVERCAST SKIES BLOCK SATURDAY’S (EASTER EVE) FULL MOON – OVER CLEVELAND, OHIO -- NO WORRIES –HERE ARE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM GOOD FRIDAY
Easter Eve --- Saturday, March 31, 2018 -- was the night for the full Moon – a blue moon.
Not surprisingly – it was totally overcast in our neighborhood around Jefferson Park on the west side of Cleveland, Ohio,
I had photographed the almost full moon – the previous evening – March 30th (Good Friday) – from the south side of Jefferson Park -- not sure whether the full Moon would be visible the next day.
Note: The March Moon is also called the Worm Moon, Lenten Moon, Crow Moon, Crust Moon, Chaste Moon, Sugar Moon, and Sap Moon.
Because February is always a short month – the days 28 or 29 – are always less than the time it takes for the moon to circle our planet – an average of 29.53 days.
For this reason the month of March in 2018 had two full moons. The first one was on March 1. The second moon in the same month is also called a blue moon. In this case, the full moon of March 31 was a blue moon.
The full Moon -- a sight to behold -- is a marvel in our mysterious universe.
Formed 4.6 billion years ago – our Moon always presents the same face to us – because it spins on its axis at the same rate it orbits planet Earth.
The next full Moon will arrive on April 29, 2018.
Have a happy lunar month.
Note: Here are a few photographs how the overcast sky over Jefferson Park looked on Easter Eve, 2018 (March 31).
