I just got a notice from the good folks at Assemble - http://www.assemblegallery.com - all should definitely check out the Tremont ArtWalk, and the Edge show at Cleveland State will be excellent as well.

For the ArtWalk, Asterisk and Doubting Thomas have great shows scheduled... also, the artist showing at Pilgrim Church is cool, and it is worth seeing the place... I went there with a friend and his kids, a few months ago, and the caretaker took us into the belltower and let the kids ring the bell... Quasimdodo style... real trip

From Assemble:

There are a lot of great art events going on this weekend, and here are a couple picks that we would like to recommend for ya.

First
off, why not start your weekend out over at The Edge Art Gallery and
take in the 3rd Annual Juried CSU & CIA Student Art Exhibition.
Each year this event is always different, out-of-the-ordinary,
intriguing and packed full of tons of great eye-catching artwork. This
show will feature Paintings, Photography, Drawings, Ceramics,
Sculpture, Mixed Media from some of CSU & CIA's newest artistic
talent. The opening reception takes place tonight from 5:30 - 8 p.m.
and will feature live music, food & refreshments. Edge Gallery is
located one block west of University Center at 1844 Euclid Ave.

Once
your done taking in the Student Art Exhibit at Edge, it's time to head
into Tremont for the ArtWalk. This month's ArtWalk has a special
connection to Assemble because two of our artists, Brian Kelly and
Colin Toke, are taking part in a special exhibit at Asterisk Gallery
entitled Exile on Professor Ave.

Exile on Professor Ave is a
celebration of visual and performing arts that explores the
oh-so-subversive topics of identity, oppression, freedom, sexuality and
community. Curated and organized by Wild Plum Productions, The exhibit
offers a glimpse into the lives of several visual artists, writers and
actors who have creatively challenged The Man, sticking it to 'em all
the way with breathtaking works that inspire solidarity and incite
(r)evolution. The group of artists, including Colin Toke, Damon Reaves,
Shahin Afnan, Anna Giangrande, Renee Rothhaas, Brian Kelly and John
Ryan will be on display all month long.

The opening reception
tonight will feature DJ Christine Hahn of WRUW’s stonecoldbikini and
surprise performances by Exile artists. The opening reception runs
tonight from 6-10pm and Asterisk is located at 2393 Professor Ave.

While
your strolling around Tremont for the ArtWalk, might we recommend you
swing by Edison's Pub (a few doors down from Asterisk at 2373 Professor
Ave.) and view new works by Chris Yarmock, as well as hitting up The
Starkweather (2572 Scranton Rd.) to view "Nostalgic Refuse", Antique
Collage and Assemblage works by Dana L. Depew.

Ok,
that's all for this week. Stay tuned for details on our Holiday
Showcase opening up at Assemble at the end of this month (Nov. 25th).

Also,
if you have any suggested art events that you think we should check out
and include in our weekly notes, please send them along to
info{at}assemblegallery.com. Please share these news tidbits with your
friends and we hope to see you tonight on the Tremont ArtWalk.
