Mendieta, who was born in Cuba, was a critical figure in the development of feminist body art and performance in the 1970s. Her performances are ritualistic and political, combining traditional spiritual rites and symbolism with a feminist deployment of the body as a site for the production of art. The films will be introduced by Kirsten Swenson, lecturer in contemporary art at Case. 6:30-7:30PM Free Admission. Location
