James Howard Kunstler to speak at Cleveland Public Library's Writers and Reader's series.

I am excited to hear him. Kunstler is mentioned several times here on realneo. (search Kunstler) I don't think we have yet posted his TED Talk though, so here's a preview of what you might hear if you get up and go to CPL for this talk.

Thanks to Ron Antonucci for bringing this talk and to the CPL and it's staff and supporters for the series.

World Made by Hand

Susan-I, too, am very excited by James Kunstler's visit to Cleveland, OH--where I think the peak oil scenario will play out sooner than later.

Kunstler's latest book, World Made by Hand, takes place in upstate New York in an idyllic small college town, exurban getaway location similar to Hiram or Chesterland in Geauga County.  So, the book conveniently evades the urban realities of gender and culture politics and presents the ultimate male fantasy.

Men get to be MEN again--and women, well...they get to admire the men.

This is not to say that I didn't enjoy the book.  Kunstler is a thought-provoking and engaging writer.  I would just ask Mr. Kunstler to write a sequel that takes place in a shrinking former industrial town on a shallow lake.

Now, that, I can't wait to read!
