Town Hall meeting with presentations on the political attack on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other social programs benefiting our communities and what We the People can do in response

SPEAKERS:
Norman Wernet, State Director - Field Organizer, Alliance for Retired Americans in Ohio
Amy Hanauer, Executive Director, Policy Matters Ohio
Rev. Tony Minor, Director of Advocacy, Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries and Senior Pastor, Community of Faith Assembly
Nina McLellan, Co-President, Cleveland Peace Action

Federal law changes made since 1983 have allowed corporations and corporate raiders to loot pensions, 401K, and savings plans, and weaken retirement security. The social insurance plans of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are the only things standing between older Americans, as well as low and medium income Americans, and poverty. Proposals over the past year are grounded on the premise that the 99% should pay for the cost of military expansions of the past and to fund more corporate bailouts. However, there is more than enough money to protect vital benefits and pensions by ending tax cuts to the super wealthy and by cutting military spending. This will only happen if people organize and mobilize.
