A Chart Of Future Green Energy Resources

I ran into this chart and was very impressed by it.

Facing the Sun

Will any one of us live to see a cleaner, sustainable society?  We need a solar revolution :)  Thanks Bill.

Bill, I need your solar advice at new house in EC

The House is a tall three stories with tall broad roofs with very solid decking and new asphalt shingles and East and West exposure with 100% sun exposure - no trees overhanging at all. So it seems we could add a lot of solar very easily. What to use that for, if at all. Also, would skylights be good or bad, should I replace all the glass in the original wood frame windows with more energy effective glass, and are the cheap aluminum storm windows of any value at all... etc... need you to come by. Any chance Friday after work?

Why Solar?

A Graph Of The Power Of Sunshine

The sun is and will be a reliable source of energy for the foreseeable future.
A little over half of the total solar energy passes through the atmosphere to reach the Earth's surface. This energy flux has an average power of 89,000 Terawatt (1 TW = 1012 Watt).
In comparison: the total average energy flux of all the wind available on the planet is 370 TW and the average global power consumption 15 TW. In addition to being abundant, solar energy is reliable and has an outstanding energy payback.
With today's technology, a silicon photovoltaic cell produces 20 times the energy it takes to make the module.
Photovoltaic solar cells produce energy in a reliable solid-state configuration - without moving parts - and are virtually maintenance free during their expected lifetime of over 40 years.
