This year's Case Western Reserve Distinguished Lecture explored creativity and madness, March 18, presenting best-selling author and psychologist Kay Redfield Jamison in a very thorough, expert analysis of the associations of manic depressive disorders and creativity. An observation is that it should be no surprise there are many creative and depressed people here, as the two have associations. A further association is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is connected to depression, and is caused by lack of sun, which is commonplace in NEO for much of Fall, Winter and Spring. Knowing all this, NEO should be especially expert at treating manic depression, unipolar depression, and SAD, and should focus on nurturing peak creativity from everyone during the brief, bright, sunny times of the year.

During those brief, halcyon days, when we are all at peace with ourselves--we should be able to find warm, inviting public spaces along our sunny, southern city exposures--to bask in the happy glow together.

  This month's Cleveland Magazine is dead-on in their appreciation for Cleveland bloggers, who make a difference.  The Rock Hall should hire this guy.

I am not sure whether Cleveland Magazine has found Lou Muenz, yet.  If not, here's a clue.

Passport Project's mission is to provide exciting educational experiences that build community through the arts, encourage respect for diversity and rejection of racism and negative bias, and inspire a passion for learning and the global community.
Passport Project does multicultural programs and residencies at schools, at its Global Community Arts Center, and for the community to further this mission. Passport Project does diversity training in the corporate setting.

 I had a nice inaugural bike ride through the 'hood and Treadway Creek Trail and rewarded myself by warming up next to the wood-burning stove at Zeleznik's.  Thanks Peggy for firing up the grill.  The fish, suds and company were much appreciated! 

Peggy has to have shoulder surgery, so visit her after she recuperates in 4-6 weeks.  Which is just about the time to hit the Towpath and Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad with the kids.
BTW--If you are ageless (and Norm--you are), then I am sure that Passport Project's age category applies to you and all the kids at heart.

  Last week, we read Faith Ringgold's brilliant Tar Beach and I was startled at the end of the book.  The second graders broke out in applause. 

Faith Ringgold would have loved that moment.  The kids know that you can take a lot from them, but you can not take away the stars and their ability to fly.

  The BBC asks the question "Are you Happy?"

  Lead or no lead--you have a beautiful family and people who appreciate all you do to make us see the good and bad in NEO.   I saw another city dad with his daughter yesterday and I thought she turned out pretty, smart and cool, despite growing on city soil.
