Names of co-collaborators

On the unforked Content Management System (CMS) and integration side, our primary platform collaboration and host partner is Bryght - contact Boris Mann. Bryght is a Vancouver, BC based Drupal development and hosting firm optimal for our needs, and supportive in every way. Thanks to them for their hard work getting REALNEO to development stage, and working with us for a bright future for this community – very exciting looking forward.

Cleveland last in Brown University city eGov analysis

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 10/12/2004 - 02:08.

From Brown University's ongoing analysis of city eGov, we read:

The researchers examined the electronic-government efforts of the
nation’s 70 largest city governments. Rounding out the top five were San Diego, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. At the bottom of the rankings were Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Greenville, S.C., Syracuse and West Palm Beach.

Good of the process

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 10/12/2004 - 01:57.

The best
part of the REALNEO project to date is working much more intimately with open
source projects and leaders, and the personal freedom and insight that offers
me. Anyone in NEO who gets involved with REALNEO will share in this wonderful
experience of evolution, learning and empowerment – those left behind are truly
deprived in important ways.

I’m very
impressed with the technologies we’re assembling, and I’m enjoying getting off
legacy, proprietary systems as fast as possible. We’re running on Linux, and
Apache, and my SQL, and PHP, browsing in Firefox. We’re using Drupal and
starting to work with a half dozen other great projects that are making IT
better for the world, and the world better for all people – this is where Earth
is being reengineered by the next generation. And no Microsoft anywhere… no cost
anywhere, yet …I’ll pay Bryght and others for enhancements along the way, but that is
really a contribution to a greater cause.

How do you measure success?

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 10/11/2004 - 21:00.

8) How do you measure success?

Being an
information technology framework, REALNEO may measure success in relatively
unlimited administrator/developer configurable ways, including technical system
analysis, polling, perception surveying, and analysis of data collected through
the participation processes. Metrics may be harvested and collected
periodically. Some data may be shared publicly, while others (like financial
results) may be aggregated, derived, meta and remain entirely embedded and
confidential. Controls may be established to require compliance and validate
results – a nearly perfect performance measurement system is available.

Event format problem

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Mon, 10/11/2004 - 02:12.

When I select to view the "events" the page loads with the list of events in the main frame and the left and right contents inserting over the list of events, in the main frame - when I go to page 2 of the events, it loads fine. Tried logging out and back in - same issue.

Submitted by Boris Mann on Fri, 10/08/2004 - 14:21.

I did a quick search today for some North East Ohio links. Found two interesting websites:

The weblinks module is turned on, but we need to discuss some categories for it. We can start working on COIL categories/topics.

Welcome to the REALNEO development site

Submitted by Boris Mann on Fri, 10/08/2004 - 02:58.

This site is going to be used for further organization and discussion of the REALNEO concept. Norm Roulet had already written up a large amount of thoughts on the Bryght Extranet -- much of that material has been transferred to the About section.

What area of the economy does it address?

Submitted by Boris Mann on Fri, 10/08/2004 - 00:04.

REALNEO supports economic development at all levels of the economy.

At the highest organization, government and institution levels, REALNEO
allows people to find important information, contacts and resources and
form clusters, initiatives and project teams and collaborate. This
makes teambuilding and collaboration more efficient and effective. The
benefits include more successful enterprises, better project outcomes,
stronger alliances between organizations and people, and streamlining
of development processes of all types. What good outcomes are realized
at these levels will benefit everyone in the region.

At the business initiative and entrepreneurship levels, REALNEO
allows people undertaking business to find support resources, submit
and develop plans and knowledge, identify strategic partners and
    collaborate across boundaries and borders.

Thoughts on Election - Cynicism and Politics Have Always Been Linked

Submitted by Kevin Cronin on Fri, 01/09/2004 - 09:53.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." H.L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)
