CLEVELAND, Ohio The earthquake that rattled the East Coast was felt here, 300 miles away."People reported saying they felt buildings swaying," she said."Other reports said they saw pictures and mirrors moving on walls, but we received no reports of damages or injuries anywhere in the state -- though the quake was felt from Lorain in Cuyahoga County down to Cincinnati in Hamilton County." Bob Bartolotta, manager of the seismic observatory at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, said that since January 2005, there have been 51 earthquakes in Ohio, and 76 percent occurred in Northeast Ohio.

Guy's Earthquake Prediction

FTR-Guy has been predicting a severe East Coast quake for some time--Guy, you were right :)  But, I have to tell you that earthquake insurance is not an option.

This might be a good time for NEO to get serious about a CERT Community Emergency Response Team--Cleveland is woefully out of the loop--with no real coordination at all--

How many of you have a plan??  Shouldn't all public employees have this training?

earthquake prep

I was surprise to hear an expert say yesterday that in the event of a quake, if one is inside, stay inside. I always thought that people were to go out of any structure as quickly as possible. I would still go out as structures crumble and there isn't any way to escape afterwards.

Cleveland EMS is OVERWHELMED; what would it be like for us?

Sadly funding cuts have hit C-town hard..... ER's are overwhelmed sometimes on summer days.... Imagine that there was an actual FEMA emergency....we'd all be in trouble and ill prepared.... Very sad.... Scary if you ask me....

Glad to have some military training and hard copy books for basics available...foundations may crumble...but the heartbeat of America will remain!
