Growing up, of movies that stuck in my conscience, besides Planet of the Apes and Omega Man, Logan's Run stood out.  Lately, I am revisiting the message of that sci-fi movie as I see worthy and intelligent "senior" members of our community...discarded by the workforce. 

Why do we insist on decommissioning the most experienced and valuable members of our society? 

It is especially heartwrenching for me to see strong, able-bodied, older men-- used to working with their hands and backs to build and fix things-- get rejected for work, because they are seen for the possible medical expenses they could incur.
