Trompe l'oeil

 Trompe l'oeil in Jerusalem?
Biomimicry is usually thought of as an engineering term - just copy nature's successfully evolved designs and don't bother trying to re-invent the wheel.
But in this image biomimicry is used to try to camouflage a cell tower in Southern California.
Are technology structures like cell phone transceivers more acceptable if they look like something natural?  Why?
What type of palm is being imitated here? Did the imitator get the species right (with the other palms)?

If you see another version of a cell tower trying to hide itself, grab an image and post it here.
