WHAT A CELEBRATION -- SO MANY BALLOONS!

On Monday, November 16, 2020, while I was walking along West 132nd Street on my way to the Jefferson Park tennis courts – I was wonderstruck by what looked like a sea of balloons dancing in the breeze.

It was a clear, sunny, and a seasonal 40 deg. F autumn day. There was no wind unlike the previous day (Nov. 15) when there was a wind storm with gusts up to 70 mph.

The two dozen or so balloons were anchored, with their threads, in to the ground in the front lawn of a house facing the park.

The balloons were moving, really dancing, going left to right, up and down, back and forth – hitting the grass – like a silent drumbeat -- but somehow not bursting.

The colors and the rapid movements brought a sudden burst of joy – similar to the spring sighting of daffodils dancing in the breeze.

It appears that the occupants of the house were celebrating an anniversary or a birthday and they wanted to share their joy with the community.

Well, congratulations from all of us!
