Disrupt IT

over the years

I have gone to events at the library, or stayed home and watched a VHS tape of his speeches and travels.

2 years ago, the President elect called on people to engage in a day of service in honor of Dr. King. Since I was confined to home with a broken ankle and the Obama people had a huge internet network with interested participents, I set up an event asking people to bring good, non- perishable food, and warm clothing to the food pantry of a church that I was involved with. It snowed heavy that day, but over 35 people came through with quality foods, coats, gloves, and shoes. We made coffee, visited, talked about Dr. King and our hopes for the future. We connected over our concerns about the plight of peope that slept under bridges when society could do more. I think that we all felt that we had met a piece of the service to others. It felt good.

This year, I received an e-mail from Mrs. Obama requesting people go on MLK day to the County Democratic headquaters.

What a difference.
