Cleveland School Art at Auction

In the current online auction conducted by Aspire Auctions, there is a dedicated category to The Cleveland School. A group of local Northeast Ohio artists, these men and women thrived during a period from 1910-1960 and was renowned for watercolor painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. It was so named in 1928 by Elrick Davis, a journalist with the Cleveland Press. Artists of the Cleveland School were involved with the founding of the Cleveland School of Art (now Cleveland Institute of Art), the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Society of Arts, Kokoon Arts Club, and the annual May Show. Artists in this auction include William Sommer, Henry G. Keller, George G. Adomeit, Alexander Warshawsky, Sandor Vago, William C. Grauer, Wray Manning, Jean Grigor (Mrs. Paul) Ulen, Samuel Bookatz, Viktor Schreckengost, Claude Conover and Edward Winter. This is a partial list of artists being offered in the auction. Bidding is going on now online at Lots will start to close this Thursday morning starting at 10 am. The gallery is open for preview today, Tuesday and Wednsday from 11am to 7pm.
