Flashback: American Blackout (2006)Submitted by Eternity on Wed, 07/01/2009 - 16:05.
Max Eternity - In 2004 I went to cast my vote and was told that I was dead. The government used this story to try and steal my vote. This is a true story. After having voted since 1984 in numerous presidential elections, suddenly my voter registration status gets mixed up, and I get put down as deceased. Obviously, I'm alive and well, not dead. I wished I could say that I was surprised by such strange events, but being an African American male, in these United States, I know too well the face of hatred and scorn. I know to well the stench of disenfranchisement; regardless of the fact that I'm not a felon, regardless of the fact that I've been a tax paying citizen since 1982, regardless of the fact that I am a business owner, regardless of the fact that my IQ excedes 140 or anything else that would be attributed in my favor. At the end of the day I'm still a black man, who like all other black men, is largely disrespected and treated as a throwaway.

True Lies
How do we undo eight years of Bush reality?
This is who we are.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could just get rid of Bush and that would solve all our problems? Then however, what about all the people who supported him? These people are still amongst us, as are the people who fought against the civil rights movement 45 years ago.
Just as America is a place for opportunity, freedom and democracy, it's also an angry, violent, hateful place, consumed with duplicity and greed.
I don't claim to have the answers (why does answers have a "w" in it?) I just try to be a part of the solution.
