GT Craig Air Quality Monitoring Station back in service

The GT Craig Air Quality Monitoring facility is located on a triangular island at the interesections of Orange, Broadway, and E14 in Cleveland, Ohio. This 2 min 40 sec video scans over the outside of the renovated facility which just went back online on July 28, 2009.  How many breaths of air do you take every day?  What's in it?  This sophisticated new station, monitoring ozone for the first time, will let us know.

The link in the paragraph above will take you to the City of Cleveland PDF which describes the changes between the new and old stations.   One piece of information which surprised me, was that ozone was not monitored at this site in the past.   Very odd.   Also look at the wind rose diagrams near the end of the PDF.  These very clearly demonstrate the importance of this location in monitoring air quality coming from Mittal.  The wind roses also may explain why this station in the past avoided ozone monitoring - the news might have made the occupants of downtown Cleveland a little uncomfortable.
