"Cleveland Municipal Court

Governor Strickland appointed Lynn McLaughlin Murray to fill the vacancy on the Cleveland Municipal Court created by the election of Judge Kathleen Ann Keough to the 8th District Court of Appeals.  Murray, a magistrate with the Cleveland Municipal Court and a former assistant director of law with the City of Cleveland Tax Division, will take the bench effective January 7, 2011."

Lynn McLaughlin Murray is a Tremont West Development Corp. board member that was sworn in today.

This raises the question:  Since she was a magistrate in the Cleveland Municipal Court would it be reasonable to think that she had some pull when it came to Sammy C's sentencing?

Could a reasonable mind also be of the opinion that taking the bench poses a major conflict of interest by remaining on the TWDC Board?.

COLUMBUS -- Governor Ted

COLUMBUS -- Governor Ted Strickland made appointments Thursday to 11 judicial vacancies on courts in Clermont, Franklin, Lucas, Madison, Montgomery, Paulding and Putnam counties, and in the cities of Cleveland, Dayton and Sidney.

Strickland appointed Lynn McLaughlin Murray, 46, to fill the vacancy on the Cleveland Municipal Court created by the election of Judge Kathleen Ann Keough to the 8th District Court of Appeals.

Murray, a magistrate with the Cleveland Municipal Court and a former assistant director of law with the City of Cleveland Tax Division, will take the bench effective Jan. 7.

She has been a magistrate at Cleveland Municipal Court since October 1999. She presided over numerous dockets on a regular basis including small claims, garnishments, defaults, criminal, traffic and general civil.

She worked for the City of Cleveland from December 1993 until October 1999.

As the Tax Prosecutor for the City of Cleveland and the Staff Counsel for the Central Collection Agency, she supervised all litigation for the agency, including civil, criminal, bankruptcy and probate.

She received her law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1989.

She graduated in 1986 from Baldwin-Wallace College with a B.A. in Business and Political Science.

how many times has she campaigned for a judicial position

and NOT been elected?

shouldn't that mean anything - her constituency doesn't want her there.

Strickland McLaughlin Murray appointment

This stinks as rightly pointed out by other REALNEO posters--

Ohio Justice has become an oxymoron.

The history of political Democratic fundraisers in Tremont will show that McLaughlin Murray was actively promoted by the Dimora-Russo team.

And, Judge4Yourself http://www.judge4yourself.com/our-rating-system.html has not awarded high ratings to McLaughlin Murray.

NEWLY APPOINTED JUDGE MURRAY/TWDC BOARD TREASURER

A number of questions have been raised with regard to the newly appointed judge continuing to hold a board seat/treasurer of Tremont West Development Corp.

Even though TWDC staff/fellow board members have taken no action in requesting the resignation by Judge Murray, a number of residents view her holding both positions as a major conflict of interest.

Lynn Murray not only sits on the board but is a member of the TWDC Executive Committee, provides input/advice and opinions on the doling out of funds provided by the City of Cleveland - the same source who signs her paycheck.

The City of Cleveland Municipal Court Employee handles and prepares all the financial statements of the community organization.

At a recent board meeting she made statements in regard to utilizating her position as judge to facilitate certain agencies and gaining help by way of community court services in the community.  This means she could sentence people to community service in Tremont - free labor to make TWDC look good.

She also provided some insight as to getting the Adopt A Senior program reinstated and it seems to be that Sammy Catania will also be involved with the "Adopt a Senior" program.  After the incident with Guy, how do you think other senior citizens are going to react?  They'll be battin down the hatches and pullilng out diversionary  persuaders from the closet.

shouldn't he be supervised?

I'm just sayin'......

read here later, Jerleen

Plain Press worthy story will be posted to Realneo later today.

"Re-Elect" - I don't believe that Honorable Judge Murray was "elected" - she was "appointed" to the bench.  Therefore, how could she run a "Re-Election" campaign?

website edited to 'retain' Judge McLaughlin Murray

they changed the website, Jerleen.  It now states retain instead of re-elect.

I see. Thanks Lilly for the

I see.

Thanks Lilly for the up-date.

Ha! Speaking of lights - there's lights on...

but oBViously - nobody's home.

I think you're spot on, Jerleen

Wasn't this a big issue during the 2008 elections and didn't they sanction or fine some of the candidates for this?

What is she thinking?

Maybe she thinks rules don't apply to her?
