The contents of Wally Skinner's Americana Books, Suite 316 of the Caxton Building at 812 Huron Road, will be offered for sale to the public on December 9, 10 and 11 - from 10 AM - 4 PM.

They will be selling office equipment and furnishings as well as many items from Wally's collections of prints, posters, artwork, records, video disks, books, photos, Americana, Cleveland historic ephemera, magazines, matchbooks, interesting artifacts and an amazing number of collectibles and interesting things.

James Lee Witt is chairman and CEO of James Lee Witt Associates, LLC, which provides disaster recovery and mitigation management services to governments, educational institutions, the international community and corporations. Credited with turning FEMA from an unsuccessful bureaucratic agency to an internationally lauded disaster management agency, Witt was hired by Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco on September 3, 2005, to oversee reconstruction efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The free visual arts exhibition includes a collection of art created by 10 African American Detroit-based artists, each inspired by and representing black music: the music of West Africa, spirituals, gospel, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, funk, and hip hop.Community events are planned throughout the exhibition and will include a two-week summer Rock N Art residency for young artists, a community mural project, artists’ development workshops, author/illustrator visits, second Friday night of the month programs featuring a Gospelfest, West African Drumming Dance, and the Hip Hop Culture and, three community and school residencies.

‘Emerging Cleveland’ to lead holiday tours for ex-pats

CLEVELAND -- The student chapter of the American Planning Association at CSU’s Levin College of Urban Affairs will present a holiday tour of new developments and off-the-beaten-track gems in the City of Cleveland.

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is once again challenging the people of Cleveland to have a healthier new year.  All Cleveland area residents are invited to participate in the fourth annual Get Fit Cleveland Challenge, which kicks off at Tower City Center on Friday Dec. 30.  The Get Fit Cleveland Challenge is the YMCA’s initiative to motivate families and individuals to start and continue a fitness program to improve health and wellness. At the core of the Get Fit Cleveland Challenge is the Y Personal Fitness Program, a 12-week exercise plan designed to help participants develop a regular exercise routine.

Dr. Kolp and Dr. Rea will speak about their new book "Integrity Is a Growth Market: Character-based Leadership." The book uses the seven classical philosophical virtues--courage, justice, prudence, temperance, faith, hope and love--to chart how character is developed and then applies these ideas to contemporary business leadership issues.

Alan Kolp is holder of the Moll Chair in Faith & Life and professor of religion at Baldwin-Wallace College. He earned degrees from Guilford College, Harvard Divinity School and a Ph.D. from Harvard University and has numerous publications in contemporary spirituality, including "Fresh Winds of the Spirit" and "Canopy of Light & Love." Kolp spent a year in Germany on a Fullbright scholarship and has taught in England.

Peter Rea is chair of the Business Division and associate professor of Business Administration at Baldwin-Wallace College. He earned degrees from Ohio University, Bowling Green and a Ph.D. from the University of Akron and has numerous publicationsd including a co-authored book with Dr. Harold Kerzner, "Strategic Planning: A Practical Guide." Rea has established partnerships with corporations and universities in Brazil, Japan, China and India.
