Sally Gries is founder and non-executive chairperson of Gries Financial Partners, a registered investment advisory (RIA) firm that provides investment and financial advisory services to high-net-worth individuals, foundations, endowments, and retirement plans. A graduate of Northwestern University, she is also a founder and chairperson of Fieldstone Associates, a real estate investment advisory firm, and is on the advisory board of Citymark Capital. The founder of the first female-owned money management and financial planning firm in Ohio, Gries has served on many boards in Northeast Ohio, including Holden Forests & Gardens, Hawken School and Case Western Reserve University, and is a member of the National Advisory Board of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Constance Hill-Johnson is the Owner and Managing Director of Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services, a national franchise, in Cleveland Ohio. Visiting Angels is an in-home service provider assisting the elderly and older adult to live as independently as possible by remaining safely in their own familiar home environment.

Ms. Hill-Johnson started her business in 2002, and now in its 16th year, has successfully served hundreds of seniors throughout the greater Cleveland area and surrounding communities. Her professional background includes over 10-years of senior health care management experience in a variety of health care settings. She is regarded as a both a dynamic motivational leader and speaker who shares with audiences her entrepreneurial journey which began in her early 40’s, in addition to her recent journey as an adult caregiver to a mother with dementia.

Ms. Hill-Johnson’s expertise spans a wide array of organizational settings including acute care hospitals, physician’s medical practices, and professional management services companies. Ms. Hill-Johnson also spent 5 years as an institutional sales broker on an equity sales and trading desk for Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in Detroit, Michigan.

Ms. Hill-Johnson has earned the degree of Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Health Services Administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

She was nominated and selected as one of the 2007 Top 10 Women Business Owners in northeast Ohio by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). In January 2005 she was appointed by the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners to the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) Board of Trustees and is a Board Member of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging (BRIA). Additionally, she serves on the board of Adults at Risk (Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry), the African American Outreach Committee of Hospice of The Western Reserve and is past Co-Chair of the African American Philanthropy Committee of The Cleveland Foundation. Most recently she was selected as one of the 2017 Crain’s Women of Note honorees.

Frederick E. Bidwell is the executive director and CEO of FRONT Exhibition Company, a nonprofit that plans and presents FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art, which celebrated its debut edition in 2018. After a 35-year career as an advertising and marketing entrepreneur, he and his wife established the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Foundation in 2011. Two years later, the Bidwell Foundation opened Transformer Station, a contemporary art exhibition space on Cleveland’s West Side. Bidwell served twice as board president of the Akron Art Museum and serves as board chair for the Arts and Culture Action Committee. Currently, he also sits on the boards of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and the Cleveland Museum of Art, as well as the Visiting Committee of the Allen Memorial Art Museum. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College.

Carrie Carpenter is Senior Vice President, Regional Manager of Corporate Affairs for Huntington National Bank, where she directs community engagement strategies for the Cleveland region. She has more than 25 years of experience engaging leaders in community initiatives, building public relations campaigns, launching charitable programs and designing initiatives to address the needs of cities. Her experience building strategies spans the corporate, nonprofit, philanthropic and public sectors.

She was named to Crain’s Cleveland Business Forty Under 40 in 2007 and was honored with the YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence award. She is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland class of 2009. In 2010, she was honored with the American Marshall Memorial Fellowship by the German Marshall Fund, and currently serves as its Cleveland co-chair hosting European leaders in the city annually.

Carpenter earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Kent State University in political science and women’s studies, and her Masters in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University. She serves as vice chair of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank board, and was a founding board member of the Gordon Square Arts District. She is the founder and director of Women’s Networking Group-Cleveland, a 17,000-member social media discussion group that focuses on empowering women in the workplace.

Margot James Copeland’s experience spans board and operational leadership; currently she serves on the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Clinic as vice chair of Government & Community Relations, The Cleveland Orchestra, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Say Yes to Education, and recently concluded nine years at Kent State University as board secretary, chair of Nominating and Governance, and chair of Academic Excellence and Student Success. She was recently elected to the Board of Directors of AARP and the Cleveland Cuyahoga County Port Authority. She is an Advisory Board member of Nirvana Analytics, an investment and private equity company.

Copeland is the former chair and CEO of the KeyBank Foundation (retired), and also served as chief diversity officer at KeyBank. Under her leadership at KeyBank, Copeland developed strategic philanthropic investing and measuring long-term performance. This earned The Civic 50 recognition six consecutive years with four distinctions in the financial services sector; the most in the company’s history. As KeyBank’s first Chief Diversity Officer, she led initiatives earning national distinction including successive recognition by DiversityInc. Copeland is a recipient of the Master Innovator recognition by Smart Business Magazine. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University.

A North Olmsted native, Kathleen Ferry brings more than 30 years of corporate finance and business operations experience to the board of the Cleveland Foundation. She began as the treasurer and co-owner of Telefast Industries in 1987, before assuming the role of CEO from 2002-13. She then went on to join FocusCFO in 2015 to assist Ohio small and mid-sized businesses with CFO services, including manufacturing, distribution, non-profit and financial sectors. Ferry is also a member of the Board of Regents at St. Ignatius High School, having previously served on the boards of the Jesuit Retreat House and Magnificat High School. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Hiroyuki Fujita, an immigrant from Japan and industrialist, is the founder and CEO of Quality Electrodynamics (QED), a global developer and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology manufacturer. In October 2019, QED became a subsidiary of Canon Inc. based in Tokyo, with Dr. Fujita serving as chief technology officer of the CT-MR Division of Canon Medical Systems Corporation (CMSC) headquartered in Tochigi, Japan.

After studying at Waseda University (Tokyo), Dr. Fujita completed his BA in physics and mathematics at Monmouth College and his Ph.D. in physics at Case Western Reserve University. He has authored 17 patents and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers and abstracts.

Dr. Fujita serves as an adjunct full professor at Case Western Reserve University in the Department of Physics and the Department of Radiology. He also serves as an adjunct full professor in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Queensland in Australia. Dr. Fujita is a Senior Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.

Dr. Fujita sits on The Ohio State University (OSU) Board and chairs its Talent, Compensation & Governance Committee; he is also a member of the OSU Wexner Medical Center Board of Trustees. Dr. Fujita serves as chair of the Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital Board and chairs the Cleveland Foundation's Board Governance Committee. He is the Honorary Consul of Japan in Cleveland for the Government of Japan and is a board member of the U.S.-Japan Council's Board of Councilors; the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Foundation (OIST), NY; the OIST Graduate University, Board of Governors, Okinawa, Japan; The Cleveland Orchestra’s Executive Committee; Global Cleveland; the Cleveland Council on World Affairs; and the Greater Cleveland Partnership. He also serves on the President's Visiting Committee, International Visiting Committee, the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence Advisory Board, and the Physics Strategic Advisory Group at Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Fujita is a frequently invited lecturer at various institutions, organizations, and conferences for national and international audiences. He has published his autobiography, “A Pathfinder,” and authored a monthly editorial in Wedge Magazine.

Dr. Fujita served two terms on the U.S. Manufacturing Council for the U.S. Secretary of Commerce during the Obama Administration, sat on its U.S. Tax and Export Subcommittee, and co-chaired the Energy Policy Subcommittee.

Dr. Fujita founded QED in 2006, and by 2009, it was recognized in Forbes Magazine's top 20 list of “America’s Most Promising Companies,” and granted the Ohio Governor’s Excellence in Exporting E-Award. In 2010, Dr. Fujita received the Industrial Manufacturing Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Northeast Ohio and also received the Young Alumni Award for exemplary professional achievement and service to Case Western Reserve University. In recognition of growing an impactful, high-tech manufacturing company in the United States, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama invited Dr. Fujita to be an honored guest and sit in the First Lady’s Box at the 2012 State of the Union Address.

Dr. Fujita received the 2013 Presidential Award for Export ("E-Award") from the U.S. Department of Commerce for QED’s significant contribution to the U.S. Export Expansion program. In 2019, QED earned the President’s “E Star” Award for continuing U.S. export growth for another four consecutive years. Dr. Fujita was named one of the 100 most influential people for Japan in NIKKEI Business in January 2014. In 2015, he was named Case Western Reserve Radiology Alumnus of the Year and received the Consul General’s Commendation from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his contributions to enhancing the relationship between Japan and the United States.

Robert A. Glick is the founder, former CEO and Chairman of Dots, LLC, a national specialty women’s apparel chain. 

Glick was inducted into the Kent State University School of Fashion Design and Merchandising’s Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in the industry and previously served as chair of the school’s advisory board.

Glick also serves on the boards of the Cleveland Orchestra, University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center and the Alliance Solutions Group. He also serves as an advisor to Activant Capital (private equity) based in Greenwich, CT.  

Glick graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts and he earned a Master of Business Administration with highest honors from the University of Michigan. In 1995, he was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year.

Rev. Dr. Hedgeman has served as the Senior Pastor at Bethany Christian Church since 1997. In this capacity, Dr. Hedgeman has focused her congregation on a community-centered approach, including the development of a summer enrichment program for youth that provides participants with reading and math skills, sports activities, field trips, and more. Prior to coming to Cleveland, she served seven years on the regional staff of the Christian Church in Ohio. Dr. Hedgeman’s pastoral work has also included stops in her hometown of Washington, D.C., as well as Louisville, Ky. and Peoria, Ill. She is an adjunct professor for the National Youth Sports Program at Case Western Reserve University, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and serves as a mentor for the John Adams High School for the Adopt-A-School Program. Dr. Hedgeman earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Towson State University, a Master of Divinity from Lexington Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary.

Randell McShepard is currently employed as the Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief Talent Officer for RPM International Inc., a $6 billion chemical coatings/paint company headquartered in Medina, Ohio. In this post, he is responsible for managing external and governmental affairs, leading the corporate philanthropy program, facilitating corporate purchasing initiatives and coordinating executive leadership development activities.  

An active community and corporate leader, Mr. McShepard is currently serving on several boards in Northeast Ohio including Baldwin Wallace University, Destination Cleveland and Taylor Oswald LLC. He is co-founder and chairman of PolicyBridge, a public policy think tank serving the Northeast Ohio region, and co-founder of the Rid-All Green Partnership, a thriving urban farm and environmental education campus in Cleveland’s Lower Kinsman neighborhood. He also currently serves as a member of the Cuyahoga County Citizens’ Advisory Council on Equity, which was established in 2020.

Mr. McShepard’s previous community/civic leadership roles have included: president of The Union Club of Cleveland, chairman of the Cleveland/Cuyahoga County Workforce Investment Board, chairman of the Manufacturing Advocacy Council of the National Association of Manufacturers, chairman of the Sisters of Charity Foundation, vice-chairman of The Fund for Our Economic Future and vice-chairman of Business Volunteers Unlimited. He has also served as a trustee for The George Gund Foundation, The City Club of Cleveland and United Way of Greater Cleveland.

Mr. McShepard is a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, Baldwin Wallace University (B.A.) and Cleveland State University (M.S.).

Among his many honors, Mr. McShepard was inducted into the John F. Kennedy High School Hall of Fame and has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of Cleveland State University and Baldwin Wallace University. He was also recognized as a “C-Suite Champion” by Crain’s Cleveland in 2019. He is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and remains active at his home church, St. James AME Church in Cleveland, where he serves on the Steward Board.

Ronald A. Ratner is a Partner of RMS Investment Group, a closely held family investment company.

Mr. Ratner served as Chief Development Officer responsible for oversight of Forest City Realty Trust’s national development program until September of 2018. His career at Forest City began in 1975 and included direct development, construction, financing and management responsibilities, beginning with individual projects and progressing to executive supervision of multiple large scale developments on a national level. He had direct responsibility for over 80,000 residential units and in excess of 12 million sq. ft. of mixed-use development in 15 States.

Mr. Ratner received his bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and completed the master’s program in architecture at UCLA.

Mr. Ratner is active with numerous community, educational, charitable and professional organizations. He currently is a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council and serves on the board of The Cleveland Foundation, Enterprise Community Partners and the Cleveland Clinic. He was active with National Multi Housing Council and has previously served on the Board of Directors at Forest City, and as a board member at The Ohio State University, Park Synagogue, Brandeis University and Menorah Park.

Maria Spangler is the Director of Community Engagement for the Sherwin-Williams Company, a 154-year-old firm founded in and committed to Northeast Ohio. In addition to serving as Director of the Sherwin-Williams Foundation, she develops strategy and provides thought leadership for corporate responsibility efforts in support of communities and 60,000 employees across the company’s global footprint.

Spangler earned her B.A., cum laude, in political science from John Carroll University. She holds a juris doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a masters of public administration from the Maxine Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University

Extensively involved and committed to the Northeast Ohio community, Maria serves on the boards of Cuyahoga County Public Library, University Circle Incorporated, and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. She and her husband Michael are strong supporters of educational access to underserved communities and remain staunchly committed to the mission of Esperanza.

Graham Veysey is a neighborhood developer in Hingetown, a vibrant enclave of Ohio City; the head wine guy at MANCAN Wine – the first exclusive wine-in-a-can company distributed in over 30 U.S. States; and, the Principal of North Water Productions – an Emmy Award winning production firm. North Water Productions creates content for global brands, arts and cultural institutions, and political campaigns. Veysey consults for the Aspen Institute, and is a contributing producer for the Aspen Ideas Festival; is a Contributor for Vanity Fair for The New Establishment Summit; and, directs the main stage of The Atlantic Festival. He was formerly the project director for the Ohio City Farm, a six-acre urban farm in Cleveland. Veysey serves on the boards of Policy Matters Ohio and the Bidwell Foundation. He was a 2016 Presidential Leadership Scholar and is a graduate of Bates College.
