A bit about Pere Ubu, from the Ubu Projex website: Pere Ubu burst upon the scene in 1975 and changed the face of music. For over 31 years they've defined the art of cult; refined the voice of the outsider; and influenced the likes of Joy Division, Pixies, Husker Du, Henry Rollins, REM, the Sisters of Mercy, Thomas Dolby, Bauhaus, Julian Cope and countless others.

I thought it timely to give Ubu Projex its own NEO book on REALNEO, as there is already lots of content here about this creative phenomenon, rooted to NEO, and to encourage all NEO music fanatics to get out to the Beachland Ballroom next Tuesday, April 10, to thank David Thomas for once again making Cleveland his #1 US tour destination - this spin making the Beachland Ballroom the only US concert for his Two Pale Boys. Your main band (at least in most people's eyes), Pere Ubu, is pretty flexible musically. What do you get out of working with Keith and Andy that you couldn't with Ubu?
Pere Ubu is a rock band. It has a drummer and a conventional line-up. Therefore, it has a certain amount of inertia which requires a certain amount of effort to affect. The 2pbs, being a smaller unit, reacts quicker and changes direction with much less energy. Pere Ubu is like a Hollywood big-budget blockbuster. The 2pbs is one of those black & white foreign films with sub-titles. Pere Ubu is capable of powerful visionary lunges. The 2pbs is capable of subtle and intricate detailing. It is useful as a writer f music to have access to all these facets.
