The Board of Trustees of Case Western Reserve University announced today that it has elected Dr. Gregory L. Eastwood, MED '66, to become Interim President of the University effective June 2, 2006. Eastwood has been President of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York since January 1993. "As an alum and member of the Board of Trustees of Case Western Reserve University, I am eager to assist the University during this transition period. I look forward to working with the faculty, students, staff, our alumni, and the Cleveland community" Eastwood said.

Ori Z. Soltes, Goldman Professorial Lecturer in Theology and Fine Arts, Georgetown University, will compare and contrast the two key Spring holidays in Jewish tradition. He will address history, myth, theology and art in the narrative context of both festivals, the importance of each in shaping Judaism and Jewish identity, and the reflection of these issues in the rich visual traditions of the Haggadah and the Megillat Esther.

Spurred in part by the NAE Conference scheduled for June 2, REI's New Energy Roundtable and TransTech
have organized local energy fest to discuss sustainable mobility. A
number of interesting endeavors are taking off in Ohio - including the

Northeast Ohio� brought together at the Cleveland Ritz-Carlton Hotel a diverse
group of probably 100 representatives of businesses, non-profits, academe and government
to discuss the economic opportunity of sustainable development – to restore NEO
as a “green city by a blue lake�.

The topic of the 05.03.05 Tuesday at REI was "Exploring New Models of Funding the Civic Space" - a panel discussion at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History about what are the existing models, how can we improve effectiveness, and what are some of the challenges we need to address for the future? Attendees represented the community of practitioners, research and philanthropy.

NEO Civic leader Sarah Taylor has for many years championed appreciation for
the transformational aspects of the Gehry designed Peter B. Lewis building in
University Circle, and for this Tuesday@REI she assembled a remarkable panel to
explore impacts in this community. It became that building the "PBL" was the
ultimate professional experience of everyone personally involved with the
project, that knowledge was broadly shared by all involved that transformed
their abilities to excel in their professions, that they and the regional
economy thus benefited directly, and that the existence of the PBL is one of the
greatest assets of this region. In conclusion, everyone in the room seemed to
share the believe we as a region have failed to leverage the value of this
asset, and so more should be done to benefit from this industrial innovation
phenomenon.

This workshop will explore how an open network can provide a
strong identity and support collaborative action for sustainability in
Northeast Ohio. What would the network look like? What would it do?
What services would be needed to make everyone more effective?
