The Monster Bush: A poem by Max Eternity (2005)

Submitted by Eternity on Tue, 12/15/2009 - 15:04.

In a smirking rage, he howls for more
Jesus on his lips
Horror in his heart

The monster Bush now lives

Stolen elections
Domestic terror
And the blood of 911

The monster Bush hungers for more

The Carlyle Group
The Enron scam
Religious fever
And the 'accidental' murder of Paul Wellstone

It's not enough, the monster craves more and more

So on to Iraq
And the murder of thousands of Americans Soldiers
While spilling the blood of nameless Arabs

Paper Tiger President: Obama's "scold the bankers" faux-Populism

Submitted by Eternity on Mon, 12/14/2009 - 10:37.

Glen Greenwald @ Salon - I wonder what it's like to live in a country where political and financial elites are held accountable for wrongdoing.  Everyone can decide for themselves how credible a threat Obama, Tim Geithner, Larry Summers and friends will ever pose to Wall Street, but at least some of the bankers don't seem to be taking it very seriously:

Real Change With or Without Obama: The President's Betrayal of Generation Hope

Evan Knappenberger @ Common Dreams  - As I prepare to take my first college degree and enter into the world of the Great Recession, I look back on a time of great turmoil. Not only have we students roundly rejected the Neo-Con worldview, but we have been betrayed by the leader we helped to elect. I also look forward to a time of re-generation. Though our generation is the most democratic and least republican one since the civil war, don't be surprised if we turn away from the Democratic party soon. Fool us once, DNC, shame on you. But beware: it may not happen again.
