dates: saturday sept. 12, 09 - 10am -6pm- sunday sept 13, 09- 11am-5pm Tremont Arts & Cultural Festival - The Eleventh Annual Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival returns to Lincoln Park. The mission of the Festival is to celebrate the cultural and artistic diversity of Tremont and Greater Cleveland by encouraging the artistic and cultural endeavors of its visual and performing artists. The weekend Festival is comprised of four categories or program areas which include: Children's-hands-on arts, historical, and educational projects; Community-area non-profit organizations presenting material about their mission and services; Cultural-food sales by Tremont churches, other non-profit organizations, and Tremont restaurants reflecting the ethnic diversity of the neighborhood; and sales of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, and photographs created by Tremont and Northeast Ohio artists. Artists who are accepted into the Festival through the jurying process (deadline for application is May 29th) are eligible for consideration by the jurors for the Festival's top three prizes. The Jurors (all Tremont-based artists) include: Christina Cassara (Professor and Co-Head of the Dept. of Fiber & Material Studies, Cleveland Institute of Art - her work has shown all over Ohio as well as in Michigan and Poland), Tim Herron (Owner of the Tremont studio and gallery, The Manly Pad, his work, shown in many area galleries and establishments, includes Figure Studies, Landscape and Surreal Paintings, and Portraits - for the last four years Tim has run a portrait drawing group at the Literary Cafe on Friday nights where portraits are drawn for free and artists of all levels are welcome to practice for free), and Steven Mastroianni (owner of Steven Mastroianni Fine Art Phography LLC, where he specializes in portrait and wedding photography - and co-owner with his artist wife, Beth, of Mastroianni Photography and Arts - his work has been shown in over twenty solo and group shows and is featured in several public and private collections including The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Steven is a Professor of Visual Communications in photography at Cuyahoga Community College). The Festival will also have music and dance performances both Saturday and Sunday on one main stage located near Kenilworth Avenue between West 14th Street and West 11th Street. Admission to the Festival is free. The Festival is sponsored by Merrick House and co-sponsored by Tremont West Development Corp. and Cleveland Ward 13 Councilman Joe Cimperman. Graphic design of print media ads is by Tremont resident and illustrator, Sue Scialabba. Our thanks to Sue, our jurors, and all our sponsors! For questions and information contact Festival Manager, Scott Rosenstein, at [masked] or [masked]. The Festival is a trolley stop on the Sparx Gallery Hop on Saturday & Sunday, September 12th & 13th. A number of Tremont art galleries and artists' studios can be visited from several Sparx trolley stops that weekend. http://www.tremontwestdevelopment.com/tacf.htm _________________________________________
