Pangea will perform Bewaa (recreational), Bine (funeral), and Bagr Bine (sacred) music of the Dagara people, ritual drumming of the Ewe People, recreational drumming of the Ga people, and ceremonial music of the Baganda people. Please join us at 3pm on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 in the Fine Arts Department!
Pangea was founded in the Spring of 2006 by Tom Roblee and Matt Jacklin as a traditional African music ensemble with the goal of performing and educating audiences. The ensemble is primarily dedicated to gyil (xylophone) music of the Dagara and Sissala people from northwestern Ghana. As Pangea evolved, other music from Ghana and Uganda has enhanced its repertoire.
