Music at Main: Chelsea Coyne, mezzo-soprano

Oksana Vignan & Chelsea CoyneThe Fine Arts Department is pleased to present vocalist Chelsea Coyne, mezzo-soprano, on June 19th, 2010 at 2pm in the 3rd floor lobby of the Main Library building (325 Superior Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, 44114). In a recital entitled "Opera 2 Broadway," Ms. Coyne, and her accompanist Oksana Vignan, will perform works by Rossini, Bizet, Gershwin and more! This program is free and open to all ages. Chelsea CoyneChelsea Coyne (mezzo-soprano), a native of Fort Worth, Texas, earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and is currently an Artist Diploma candidate at CIM.  Ms. Coyne feels equally at home in recitals and on the opera stage.  Her most notable operatic roles include Béatrice (Béatrice et Bénédict), Carmen (La Tragédie de Carmen), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Volpino (Lo Speziale), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Pamina (The Cypress Grove) and Rosine (Signor Deluso).  Ms. Coyne won first place prizes at the 2008 NATS Buckeye Chapter Vocal Competition and the FSOM Vocal Competition in Salzburg, Austria, as well as the 2010 Sparkling City Light Opera Emerging Young Artist Competition in Corpus Christi, TX.  She will return to Corpus Christi in 2011 to make her professional debut with the Sparkling City Light Opera.  Ms. Coyne will spend her summer in Graz, Austria studying at AIMS. Oksana Vignan (piano), Ukrainian-Canadian, has been performing in the greater Cleveland area for many years.  After earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Windsor and a Master of Music from Wayne State University, Ms. Vignan finally settled in Cleveland, OH.  In addition to her previous degrees, Ms. Vignan also earned Master of Music and Professional Studies degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music.  She is currently a Master of Music candidate in Choral Conducting at the University of Akron.  Ms. Vignan is also an active Opera Coach at the University of Akron.
