The exhibit, “Startup Ink: The Subculture Entrepreneur,” opens with a public reception from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, and will be on view until Nov. 24, 2006. “We’re highlighting the creative genius of several small businesses launched in our region and catering to a youthful subculture,” said David Allen Moss, director of the FUTURE Center. “Each of our exhibitors has a unique story to tell of establishing a design-oriented enterprise from the ground up.” Included in the exhibit will be Chardon-based factory 13 experimental skateboard mfg. ltd.; Cleveland’s Jakprints, Inc. which features designs by Institute alumni; GoMedia, a Cleveland-based design firm; Alternative Press, a monthly magazine published in Cleveland since 1985 covering “new music and youth culture;” and three tattoo designers, Gen X Tattoos, 252 Tattoo, and Voodoo Monkey. The opening reception will feature Jakprints co-owner Jacob Edwards as keynote speaker. “Meet the Bloggers” reporters will interview the exhibitors during the reception and post a story on www.meetthebloggers.net.
