Which has bigger footprint? Econoline-Porsche

I thought this was an interesting pairing - which has the better eco footprint - a hard working Ford Econoline Van or a hard playing Porsche cabrio. Unlese you need to haul lots of ladders, you get much better mileage with the Porsche... but the sustainability of the commute from Palm Beach to Shaker Heights is another matter...

Federal data is really poor, making it eye-opening

I just noticed the fine print of this comparison of fuel data from the US Department of Energy's http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ - rather than being intelligent and database driven, which would allow it to update to changes in market conditions (like gas cost per gallon), this is a dumb site with static data based on historical metrics - so the Ford Econoline E250 cost of ownership is based on 2000 gas price of $1.25/gallon, versus a 2006 price of $3.15/gallon, making the results on the site confusing... but really highlighting the rate of inflation in America already this decade, and the impact on everyday life.
