SLOW MOTION THEFT - STEALING THE HOLE (country)Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 03/15/2011 - 10:34.
Yesterday I watched from am to pm as a crew of 3 (at times 4 or 5) gas company workers stretched a hole in the road.
It was a hole that had been excavated a few months back – when it was very snowy - to fix a gas leak. When the original excavation was back filled, it was not mechanically compacted.

Fukushima Daiichi reactor 3 aerial from Digital GlobalSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 03/14/2011 - 18:40.
Not looking too promising in this Digital Global satelite view. You can see the roof damage to units 1 (lower left) and unit 3 (smoking in the center). Fortunately, the wind is mostly headed to sea.

WHEN THINGS GET BAD, THEY GET WORSE...FUKUSHIMASubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 03/12/2011 - 20:47.
Image - Perry, Ohio First Energy My Dad had that expression: "When things get bad, they get worse." I remember he used it when he was discouraged or tired.

Realneo has a twitter account - so did Julian ASubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 03/12/2011 - 00:29.
Internet speach is trackable. That's not natural. We need to speak across the cosmos freely. There's a long way to go.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR MEDIA REFORM-BOSTON-APRIL 8-10Submitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 03/02/2011 - 14:44.
Here's a link to the NATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR MEDIA REFORM which will be held in Boston, Massachusetts, April 8 to April 10, 2011. The presenters include Amy Goodman from Democracy Now, Harvard's Lawrence Lessic, CraigsList's Craig Newmark (who went to Case Western), and many others. Tickets are $175.00. In my opinion, Realneo.us is a tooth in the media reform gear...

Bending LightSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 02/28/2011 - 13:35.
The image shows three exhaust chimneys from a sewerage treatment facility on a cold day. The sun is behind the 3 chimneys and behind the much larger concrete chimney stack in the back ground. The only location where the light disturbance in the atmosphere can be seen is at the intersection between the concrete chimney and the open background. ( categories: )
Pattern interpretation - a new kind of scienceSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 02/15/2011 - 14:25.
This image shows the surface of a 6 inch diameter icicle when the air temperature was about 40 degrees F. The surface of the icicle was melting away from the warm air. The result is two different patterns: the larger polygons which look like the cracks in mud on a dry lake bed, and inside the polygons the little rivulet patterns which run vertically on the ice. Government which works - Montreal Ice RinksSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Wed, 02/09/2011 - 23:43.
Look at the level of service in Montreal, Canada. Cleveland City Council doesn't have much to show for itself. Why is that? And almost none of our citizens seem concerned. Why is that? In Egypt they have had enough.

Realneo - a Job or a Joy?Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 02/07/2011 - 22:40.
Sometimes Realneo is a joy - a way to express yourself and spread a little light. Othertimes, the dreary material calls out for something new on top of it (no reference to what is below this) and we all have to search in the bottom of our bags for content to freshen up the situation. While mom washes clothes in the stream, the boys keep her company. Idyllic Dominica

Retirees back on the TracksSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 01/30/2011 - 18:43.
Because the trans-Russia railways had been completely electrified in the 1970s, and the spur tracks all used Diesel, the operation of a steam drawn train across Siberia in 2000 required the involvement of retired rail road employees. ( categories: )
Smiling youth in Siberia, RussiaSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 01/29/2011 - 18:25.
There’s something magnetic about steam locomotives – when they go by they pull your head up – and you smile – and your arm raises up to wave at the train. ( categories: )
Children appreciate flowersSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 23:33.
I just received a dozen or so CDs of Kodachrome slides which I had taken in 2000 in Siberia. Looking at images which I haven't viewed for 11 years - but still remember like Wordsworth's "spots of time" - is pretty exciting.

Here is the cover image of the book first published in 1954. The story is very relevant right here - in Realneo. Dismantling ourselves....

Clipper Wind Turbines in Buffalo cranking away at nightSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 01/07/2011 - 22:52.
I pass through the Buffalo Lackawanna area every few months and I always crane my neck to check the Clipper Wind turbines sited on the shore of Lake Erie at the defunct Bethlehem Steel factory to see if they are all working.

Doctor Rashidi's CSU "Bernolli" nonsense wins Nortech 2010 Innovation Prize - and this is a big problemSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 01/04/2011 - 21:15.
You are looking at a 2.5 million dollar bladeless goof ball wind turbine “amplifier” at Cleveland State University (image above), which in March of 2010 WON A PRIZE for “innovation”. (see prize write up below) ( categories: )
Cleveland - take your hat offSubmitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 01/03/2011 - 22:21.

Bob's Chicken Hoisin stir frySubmitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 01/01/2011 - 14:25.
Cooking has many of the same challenges and qualities as artistic painting and skilled construction. But if you are around a stove a lot, you may become a little jaded to the excitement and color. When I watched Bob stir fry I was struck by the sizzle, steam, smells and colors. Recipe below:

Cleveland is Iced - Realneo is Hot!Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 12/31/2010 - 18:58.
How many tons of ice are on the building? This is the condition that sinks ships. How about wind turbines about 3 miles off of Cleveland? Cleveland is iced. Corrupt too. Happy New Year! Where else is there a web site with moonlight over sage brush in headlights and a lighthouse encrusted in ice on the home page?

Ginger Bread DiplomacySubmitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 12/28/2010 - 21:52.
The kitchen is the most powerful room in the house. The kitchen is also the most powerful room in the world. Food entertains, focuses, and brings everyone together. What do I know, I was upstairs putting in a new bathroom floor.
