He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it"- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Leaders of University Circle Institutions,
Did you or a representative of your institution attend the EPA public hearing on the Medical Center Company's request to renew their steam plant operating permit Tuesday evening August 10th at the MLK branch of the Cleveland Public Library?
If not, please view this video. You will want to hear the powerful testimony given by citizens who attended this meeting.

It seems I suddenly need to go to Washington DC to meet with Federal officials about air pollution in Northeast Ohio. As timing is critical, I need to leave tonight and drive - returning tomorrow night. Rather than make the trip alone, wasting all that gas for just one person, I thought I 'd see if anyone else in the realNEO community would like to share a ride to-and-from DC for a day-trip there - we should be there for full business hours... 8am-midnight.

A realNEO member posted information on the Greater Cleveland Clean Air Campaign, which refused to grant me permission requested in advance IN WRITING to videotape proceedings of their last meeting - I sought to put these proceedings online for citizens to view over the Internet. As we are denied public access and participation in the Greater Cleveland Clean Air Campaign, I believe it is important for the public to see who is on the membership, which is entirely funded by the Cleveland and Gund Foundations, and is the regurgitation of a similarly chartered committee that has not met for 10 months, which has significant responsibility for the failure of all air monitoring and controls in the region, under their watch. Their watch include the eyes of many major regional and global polluters, including BP and other major source point polluters, and far too many pollution enablers. I protest!
Greater Cleveland Clean Air Campaign – Revised Framework
Mission: Improve public health by reducing local and regional contributions to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and Local Impact Air Pollution (LIAP). Building on the successes of the Cleveland Clean Air Century Campaign, engage local air quality stakeholders in assessing and reducing local and regional GHG and LIAP contributions.
Organized crime means people organizing together to commit crime - like leaders of development corporations, councilmen, the mayor, police and prosecutors, and business owners organizing to violate city laws, ordinances and human rights in Tremont.
While the most obvious examples of organized crimes in Tremont have been intentional, collusive, proactive violations of restaurant building, parking, patio, occupancy, handicapped accessibility, waste management, property, health and safety laws and ordinances, recent incidents involving reported gunplay and documented violence by TWDC staff and their friends against Guy Templeton Black prove there is a violent organized crime syndicate in Tremont, willing, able, and happy to inflict physical harm upon the weak.

Dear Friend,
Two days on the Louisiana Gulf Coast last week changed me in profound and gut wrenching ways.
My throat burned and my head foggy and dizzy from the Gulf's toxic fumes, I returned home and shared my pictures and my flip-camera video with my wife, Fran, and 13-year-old daughter, Nicole.

On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) on May 22, WIPO Director General Francis Gurry underlined the Organization’s commitment to ensuring that the intellectual property (IP) system plays a positive role in safeguarding biodiversity, the sustainable use of its components and the sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources.
WIPO is an active participant in international discussions relating to the Convention on Biological Diversity. WIPO’s program on traditional knowledge, genetic resources and traditional cultural expressions aims to empower states and indigenous and local communities to negotiate a fair share of benefits derived from the exploitation of biodiversity and associated traditional knowledge. Upon request from member states, WIPO undertakes a wide range of capacity-strengthening activities to support this.

Friends of Charlie Mosbrook (seems nearly everyone in Cleveland) have been concerned for his sudden health issues this year, and gladdened to see him back up, around, and performing stronger than ever. Featured above is a video from Charlie's website - inspiring, as is all his work - and he has many events upcoming - two in Lakewood may interested realNEO readers (we have lots of traffic in Lakewood)...

I've been asked what our traffic looks like over time, so I pulled a few quick charts of the number of visitors to realneo since we started using Google Analytics, and what they have visited, to measure performance of this site - and we've grown by pretty much all counts I've considered important by 30-100% since then - in some cases by 1,000s% - in less than a year-and-a-half.

I was pleased to see posted on Secretary of State Brunner's campaign for U.S. Senator blog a video provided by the Cleveland Plain Dealer of her opening remarks at the City Club debate, this week. This was the highlight of the entire debate... watch to the end, as she differentiates herself from Fisher - nice to see the PD make this available, including allowing it to be embedded in other sites.

Would any Realneo members like to participate in a seed and plant swap? I would be happy to host. Please post your thoughts on possible dates and times. We could also include garden tools and other gardeing related items if people are interested.

Growing up on punk, in the 1970s and 1980s, I like a direct, open, honest approach to decry injustice... and the Clash offer some of the best expressions of that ever. Enjoy.

Over the past three months, since I posted "2010 REAL COOP Annual Report and REALNEO Five-Year Report, at 10,000 Nodes", realNEO has continued to show 30%+ annual growth, having the second highest "Monthly Unique Visitors" of the realNEO ICE 25 Regional Social Media Benchmarking Sample, as of 02/10. Cleveland Scene has higher traffic than realNEO, most months, and has demonstrated the fastest growth of any site in the region for this sample period.

It is stunning to me to realize I have sitting on my desk next to me right now the ICEarth Bigbang One - one of the world's fastest personal supercomputers - developed and assembled with true genius right here in Northeast Ohio, by a homegrown team including some of the world's best open source programmers - and, tomorrow we are launching an even faster laptop supercomputer - it appears the fastest laptop ever in the world - running all open source software and a special distro of Linux - ICEarth Linux - designed to transform information management for all citizens of the world...
...and to grow ICEarth as an enterprise, now, I may need to relocate all this from Northeast Ohio, because of our leaders' lack of understanding of and appreciation for our real NEO innovations and our contributions to the new economy.

From Wikipedia: A supercomputer is a computer that is at the frontline of current processing capacity, particularly speed of calculation. Today, supercomputers are typically one-of-a-kind custom designs produced by "traditional" companies such as Cray, IBM and Hewlett-Packard, who had purchased many of the 1980s companies to gain their experience. As of July 2009, the Cray Jaguar is the fastest supercomputer in the world.

To understand the value of Linux - besides it being the best operating system in the world, for free - consider the cost of proprietary software for Windows and Apple, for the many tasks people do with a computer - the things you may want to do - and that with Open Source you may do all of these things for free. For reference, look over the following list of open source programs comparable to Windows programs and realize Windows programs are not free... open source programs are free - list from linuxquestions.org:

Please check out the website International Women's Day to learn about the history of International Women's Day and ways it is celebrated around the world. Next year will be the centenary of International Women's Day.
