TremontClark Fields major LEAD problem being ignored?Submitted by mabeldog on Sun, 03/08/2015 - 16:44.
Clark Fields aka Tremont Valley Playfield, all 50 plus acres of it, is being rejuvenated, rehabilitated, renovated, revived, Halleluiah, without any apparent participation, assistance, interference or monitoring from the almighty EPA. And why NOT? It's full of lead.

What good is community approval when what was approved gets changed?Submitted by Oldroser on Mon, 03/04/2013 - 23:59.
Last year, Councilman Cimperman insisted that ODOT not proceed any further with plans for the Innerbelt Bridge until there was a community- wide meeting for us to consider and approve plans. The plans had previously been approved only by "stakeholders," which were composed of large corporations, no small companies included. I have always been irritated that I am not considered a stakeholder, even though the bridge is in my front yard.

Only 13 people were at the June 6 meeting at Sokolowski's. Georgeanne Franko wasn't there, Councilman Cimperman wasn't there, nor was Craig Hebebrand, Project Director for the first bridge. Jason Wise, Project Director for the second bridge was there. Kristin, Cory, the two P.R. ladies, myself and Jason Wise make six.

Important upcoming ODOT meetings! NOT listed in TWDC NewsletterSubmitted by Oldroser on Tue, 06/05/2012 - 00:31.
I had been told in a email that at the meeting THIS WEDNESDAY, June 6, at Sokolowski’s (no time given, but they have been starting at 5:30 p.m.) ODOT and their design consultant would meet with the local community to discuss streetscape options along 14th Street and Abbey Avenue. One idea under consideration is the use of excess right-of-way (excess???, are they giving up on the parking lot, which shows future parking taking even more space as per last meeting that discussed this) as a community garden or urban orchard.

The ODOT saga continuesSubmitted by Oldroser on Sat, 05/19/2012 - 19:58.
I haven't been updating this because I was spending a great deal of time researching environmental justice, one of the main goals of transportation. It requires providing timely and meaningful opportunities for participation and comment by representatives of potentially affected low income and minority communities and to address disproportionately high and adverse effects, including mitigation measures and consideration of alternatives that would avoid or reduce the disproportionately high and adverse effects.

See map: Google Maps The Energizer Bunny of the rose world--Uncle JoeSubmitted by Oldroser on Mon, 10/24/2011 - 03:35.
I grow a dark red 1972 hybrid tea rose, bred by the Kern Rose Nursery that was in Mentor. I does not produce a lot of blooms, and those it does produce seldom open fully to show their golden stamens. Of course with 75-80 petals of good substance to open, it is no wonder. This bud I photographed October 1.
And six days later on October 7. And three days later on October 10.

Owner of new Tremont beauty shop gives Oldroser a gorgeous roseSubmitted by Oldroser on Mon, 10/24/2011 - 02:10.
A new beauty shop has opened in Tremont, at W. 10th & Literary. I was walking my dogs along the Literary side of its building where there is a large yard with three gorgeous red rose bushes bearing buds. I was trying to decide which was the most beautiful when the owner, Kelly, came out and asked if I would like a rose. Well, yes! And so Oldroser, who has given away over forty rose bouquets this year, was herself given a fantastically beautiful rose.

Magic on a Summer NightSubmitted by lmcshane on Fri, 08/26/2011 - 22:45.
Despite all the on-going corruption and the sad real estate speculation in the City of Cleveland--there are moments of magic, like tonight, as Verb Ballet performed in Tremont's Lincoln Park. The impromptu dance routine by many of the kids in attendance captured my imagination.

I hadn't read about this honor given to one of our own, but ran across it and thought I'd bring it to your attention in case you missed it too. I had never read clvelandcitizenechoesonline.com Unfortunately, he seems to have quit writing, I don't find anything current. In another area clevelandcitizenechoesonline.com/PP-5.htm he made refernce to another of Jerleen's articles in the Plain Press and praised her writing, saying:

Dates of upcoming O.D.O.T. Question & Answer meetingsSubmitted by Oldroser on Tue, 07/19/2011 - 01:57.
Since I had only one day notice of the meeting, I complained and found that other people had had earlier notices and Sammy Catania had provided Henry Senyak with a list of dates. I suggested they be put in the newsletter. Well, the date it has to go to the printer doesn't allow for that. Well, print the whole list! Fortunately, the helpful Public Information Officer sent me the list, and here it is! I hope in the future to not be the only one raising questions/from the board.
ANOTHER CHANCE TO ASK O.D.O.T. QUESTIONSSubmitted by Oldroser on Tue, 07/12/2011 - 20:32.
TWDC sent out another announcement about the ODOT updates, which are to be held monthly. This one gives very little time since the meeting is TOMORROW. Since they are to be held every month, it looks like it will always be on a Wednesday and at Sokolowski's. Tonight is only an hour, not two hours as it was last time. Text of the message follows.

My bouquets are legendary…but trumped by Becker’s donutsSubmitted by Oldroser on Wed, 07/06/2011 - 23:43.
I’ve so far given away over 30 bouquets of roses, starting with old garden rose bouquets to TWDC’s Chris Garland, ODOT’s Craig Hebegrand and to Director Ron Brown of Cleveland Planning in gratitude for his help. At the recent ODOT update and Q&A at Sokolowski’s, Safety Director Marty Flask sat beside me and said he’d heard about the bouquet for Director Brown, it was mentioned at a meeting, adding that City Hall is a small place.
