Acknowledgement of Norm Roulet's contribution and influence

Submitted by marccanter on Wed, 01/06/2010 - 17:23.

In my earlier post today, I have to apologize for not pointing out the significant contribution and influence REALNeo co-founder Norm Roulet had in me coming to NEO.

Yah sure - Norm and I don't see things eye to eye, but that's fine with me.

Time to utilize on-line technology for followup from the Sustainability Conf

Submitted by marccanter on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 16:19.

I was asked by several people to attend the recent Sustainability Conf in Cleveland, but alas I was not able to do that.

As I've been wading through the various cynical blog posts and coverage of the event - I was struck by a few things:

Headed to Cleveland - will be there next week

Submitted by marccanter on Fri, 04/17/2009 - 11:53.

Hey folks

Norm has convinced me that I need to be in town - so I'll be there next week.

We've also setup a test/demo social network - if you want to come on over and join - to show off what we can do.  Easily.

I'm excited as hell.

I've also attached in image I'm using to explain what I call the 'virtuous circle' we're setting up.

I'm wondering if Michael DeAloia knows who Bill Knott is?

Submitted by marccanter on Sun, 04/12/2009 - 12:19.

Truth be told - I lived with a household of poets at Oberlin.

I'd get home at the end of along day in the electronic music studio and practicing to be "Papageno" to:

- hold on, hold on, listen to this: "Graph to me the breast you cut off to fire better with........"

or

- "inside the valley that lies between a shrug"

Just joined the Ning "Social Media Club - Cleveland" social network

Submitted by marccanter on Tue, 04/07/2009 - 13:32.

As I morph from a carpetbagger into a homeboy, plant some roots and make Cleveland my home - dude - I've been trolling the Open Web looking for coolio places to join.

One of them is the social network on Ning called "Social Media Club - Cleveland".

I met George Nemeth there and learned about CoolCleveland.com.

My first experience with targeted ads

Submitted by marccanter on Thu, 03/26/2009 - 17:15.

I just wrote up a post over at my blog - on 'targeted ads' and why Google has to fear Facebook.

This is the ultimate enchilada - the game changing aspect of capitalism that has to change. The relationship between the vendors who wish to sell us goods and services - and us folk - who buy all that crap!

Here's the post in it's entireity:

Open standards for aggregation streams

Submitted by marccanter on Mon, 03/23/2009 - 14:47.

participated in a panel last week in vegas on open standards for aggregation streams.  We had on one panel an unprecedented set of companies all discussing working together for the  benefit of the end-users, not themselves.  Google, Microsoft, Facebook, MySpace and Plaxo (COMCAST) were all on the panel.  And me.

What are aggregations streams?

What are open standards?

Videophone Help

Submitted by marccanter on Mon, 03/23/2009 - 00:48.

Wouldn't it be great if a community could use videophone technology - like what you can get for free from Skype - to help each other?

If someone had a question - all they'd have to do is videophone up somebody and ask an answer.

The idea is that experts can support newbies in almost any area - and vice versa.

So if you were working on a home repair job or winterizing and you needed an experts advice, you could find him/her.

And if they needed help in creating a web site or balancing your companies books - they could help you.

Citizen Dashboard proposal

Submitted by marccanter on Fri, 03/13/2009 - 22:10.

Howdy.

My name is Marc Canter.  I was the guy who first introduced Norm Roulet to Drupal like 5 years ago. (or was it four? - it's hard to keep track.)

Anyway I've recently been working with Norm on a new proposal called the 'Citizen Dashboard'.  Its been fashioned for Cuyahoga County - but could (obviously) be used anywhere. I've posted it on my blog and facebook today and I'll be flogging this horse as I collect input from you folks.  That's my next step.

So please - HAVE AT IT!
