Sustainability at the center of Cleveland - A.J. Rocco's starts composting

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Fri, 12/02/2005 - 09:21.

Sustainability becomes part of everyone's everyday life in Cleveland as we all connect together and leverage the strengths of all. There was a perfect demonstration of that this week at REALNEO's home away from the office - A.J. Rocco's Espresso Bar and Restaurant - as a result of REALNEO member Sudhir Raghupathy bringing together a group of socially conscious young people he calls NEO Net Impact, on Tuesday, November 29, at A.J. Rocco's. Just two days later, A.J. Rocco's became the first downtown restaurant participating in a program to add their organic waste to a composting initiative in Ohio City.

Our Great Lakes - Be Part of It

Submitted by Ed Hauser on Wed, 11/09/2005 - 16:11.

The historic Cleveland Harbor Coast Guard Station on Lake Erie

The people of Northeast Ohio are
fortunate to have one of the world's greatest bodies of freshwater at
our doorstep. Cleveland, being the largest metropolis on Lake Erie,
needs to leverage this great asset and realize its potential to make
Northeast Ohio a world contender. The citizens, organizations, and
public officials have begun the collaboration needed to make it
happen. The only way we can keep the momentum going to restore our
Great Lakes is to get involved and “be part of it.”

VIDEO: designers/urban planners define our environment - consider the implications

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Wed, 11/09/2005 - 15:57.

Click the play button below and see a "Storm the Palace" participant in an "Environment" world cafe discuss his realization "in this built environment everything is controlled - the streets look the way they do here because some guy was taught in school that's how you make streets". So what does that realization offer us for a better future?
