It's not nice to fool Mother Nature

Submitted by lmcshane on Wed, 06/03/2009 - 08:32.

Never underestimate the power of a drop of water.  This very short video was taken after a spring melt.  Yesterday, I heard torrents of water flowing underneath Denison Ave. after a light rain.  Add grass clipping, leaves, garbage and debris to the mix.  Your drinking water revealed.

Con Artists at Work...

Submitted by lmcshane on Tue, 05/05/2009 - 20:43.

When I was in junior high, suddenly, card games were all the rage. I have never been good at games.  It was a hard time for me to get into poker, blackjack, and, especially, bullsh*t.

For those unfamiliar with the game, here is wikipedia's explanation:

This month's April Cleveland Magazine, for once, features some of the folks that make CLEVELAND...

That's right, folks ... in the CITY, not the region, not the suburbs, but CLEVELAND...great.  One of those people is Mitch Paul of Shaker Cycles.

Art of the deal

Submitted by lmcshane on Thu, 04/02/2009 - 07:05.

Yesterday's daily ethical transgression--Lottery Director Dolan's distribution of tickets to a state trooper--was discussed and my sister, the artist, referred me to the work of Mark Lombardi.

It's how conflict of interest makes for slippery slopes.  I hope that I don't offend any of the wrong people by mentioning the reference.

In Too Many Ways, Real NEO Is Unreal For "Coloreds"

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Sun, 03/15/2009 - 08:09.

Racist sign in Cleveland Ohio

A buddy of mine – I'll call him DC - just had a rough couple of weeks. One of DC's friends had his house invaded by gunmen... another friend went ballistic and killed five family members, and himself... and DC was denied a job because he is “colored”. This last problem is the most serious, because it causes the first two, a million times over each year in America, and seems all too commonplace here in real NEO.
