Plastic facade on a Skyscraper - not too smart

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 04/04/2013 - 07:54.

Apparently ignited by an electrical short circuit in a air conditioning unit - the entire 450 high skyscraping in Grozny torches itself.

Are flamable plastic building envelopes allowed in the USA?

Lamb Cake - something I had never heard of 'til today

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 03/28/2013 - 17:23.

A friend of mine asked me what I was doing for Easter.

I mentioned I was headed to a friend's house for a big meal with a bunch of other mutual friends.

He asked me if we were going to have "lamb cake".

Huh? I said.  "What the heck are your talking about?".

"You know, a cake shaped like a lamb".

"Never heard of it", I said.

It’s a new age in Court – the 4G age

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sat, 03/23/2013 - 09:49.

I was helping my friend Charlie with a credit card claim and – since he gets butterflies when he goes to court and says he is so distracted that he can’t hear what the judge is saying – Charlie asked me to come with him so I could tell him what transpired when it was all over.

Commuting in a Car is an environmental Crime

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Mon, 03/18/2013 - 11:34.

In Snohomish County, Washington, their legislators in 1991 passed a law titled "the Commute Trip Reduction Act".

On specific congested road corridors citizens are paid to use non-auto modes of transportion.   For example, if you bike to/from work 8 days per month on these specific congested corridors, you might receive $50.00 per month.

There is also a brokers payment for persons already in the program who bring in more patrons to the program.

Keeling Curve - the other side of automotive fume suicide

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 03/17/2013 - 21:05.

This afternoon I visited the site of a global warming experiment installed (outdoors) in 2006.   The experiment studies plants to determine what species will advance, and what species will recede, as the average temperature increases.  To do this, electric heaters are used to increase in various increments the ambient outside temperature over the plants - sort of like putting a spot light (without the photosynthesis light) on an outside plant to keep it warm.

Car Epidemic - is our demize

Cars have taken over (image NYCity)

Cars are King.

We have to have one per person - at least.

Cars are suffocating us.

Cars are killing us.

My car has a heated cup holder and Siri talks to me while I drive.

Here is an image showing the hydraulic over cable winch details at the upper rear of a similar 4 story car rack (similar to the car storage rack in the image above).

Why are Casinos located at Niagara Falls? We trash everything!

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Thu, 03/14/2013 - 11:05.

You can't shield your eyes from the blaring, glaring, pulsing electronic casino advertizing - flashing from all directions over Niagara Falls.

Both the Canadians and the Americans have trashed the place - Big Time.

The worst is the Seneca Niagara Casino - which should be in Times Square (really, in Hell), not Niagara Falls, New York.

Grove of walnut trees in late fall - north east Ohio

Some people want to own a new expensive car, some people want to have a bigger house, some people are angling for a yacht....

Personally, I covet a grove  like these mature walnut trees- and not for lumber!

Spectacularly beautiful.

Roldo tells it straight re: Corporate "sports" in Cleveland and across the US

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 01/29/2013 - 21:34.

Roldo is one of the very few who see through the fog of "civic loyalty" BS regarding corporate for-profit-like-any-other-corporation sports.

Why should the "naming rights" income from the publicly owned stadium in Cleveland go to anyone other than the citizens of Cleveland?

Equal protection - all US State's abortion laws apply only to one gender - this violates our constitution -

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Tue, 01/22/2013 - 17:34.

Why is it that no state or federal abortion/anti abortion legislation applies to men?

How is it constitutional to have a "law" which discriminates between sexuality?   Where is that distinction in the constitution?

To be equitable we need to remove laws which invade a female's gender or install laws that invade every male's gender.

The Solution to Pollution is Dilution - Fracking discharge fluids as road de-icer - Spread the WEALTH!

Regulation?  (whether nukes, guns or chemicals or anything else)

Human activity?  (where profit always pulls towards the Devil)

And what you will find is that once the secret chamber is opened,  it's "safe" contents will spread everywhere.

There will be no lung, land, glass of drinking water, or river untouched.

Every chemical that is pushed down into a fracking gas well will end up on the surface of our community  -  will end up in our water, in our dinner, in us.

Lithium battery fire in Boeing Dreamliner while empty on Boston tarmac - not a problem?

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 01/11/2013 - 23:07.

When I heard that the Boeing 787 had filled with smoke, and that the source had been a short circuited/over heated/ lithium ion battery pack in the underbelly, the first though I had was ValueJET Everglades crash....

In the Value Jet crash 110 people went head first into the Everglades because chemical oxygen generators (small metal cans), improperly shipped on the plane, had gone off and overheated tires which ignited in the hold.

Buying a (narrow) house in Toronto

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Fri, 01/11/2013 - 20:43.

While real estate in the City of Cleveland falls apart vacant and ransacked of any type of metal - copper, cast iron, steel, aluminum, brass (water meters go first), in Toronto, Ontario, Canada you can't get a house for under $400,000 - and you always have to bid above the asking price- or you are wasting your time.

Zubin Mehta states it clearly - castrate rapists

Submitted by Jeff Buster on Sun, 12/30/2012 - 20:57.

Rape is an extremely violent violaton of a person.

In India over the last 10 days the world has witnessed a country in the throws of resolving the proper response of society to rape.

Today, Zubin Mehta spoke clearly: castrate the rapists.

A very serious proposal, and one that if exercised in a rush could be wrong and permanent...but if exercised accurately

Seems fair to me...
