This is so very touching.. Lynda

Freedom and Jeff
Freedom and I have been together 10 years this summer. She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken wings. Her left wing doesn't open all the way even after surgery, it was broken in 4 places. She's my baby.

Sam Jawhari has lived in the Tremont Community for a long time. He is raising three children, and owns/leases the Fairfield Gas and Auto on Fairfield Avenue. The location of Sam's business has been a garage and gas station for four, five or more decades. Sam is one of the nicest and most considerate neighbors/businessmen in our neighborhood.

I am perhaps too tired to give the entire run down now, but suffice to say we took routes I never knew existed - those funky pedestrian trapezes over the interstate highways, paths through old neighborhoods, new rail road right of way bike paths.
Norm has been advocating urban gardening, and today the riders could see that it is beginning to take root!

As my sister-in-law and I made our way through Thurman Alley today passing out flyers for the OSS meeting, we encountered a number of residents either on their porches, walking up and down the sidewalk and/or exchanging conversation over fences.

Off the bottom of the chart. wAY off the bottom. Toby. Sorry.
I guess they have an excuse. They are doctors. And pay no real estate taxes.
Thanks DM and SM for leads to this story.

The Cleveland Clinic continues its decades long emphasis on sterilization. Today the demolition of the Carnegie Medical Building left this class room - with its drapes, chairs, and tables - a bit interrupted.

Max Eternity - I have many criticisms of President Obama, even though I voted for him. But let me be clear, I voted for him not because I though he was going to save us from all the doom and gloom, but because I thought he had the most integrity of all the candidates that were (by June '08) left standing. Every president, and indeed every citizen, should be held accountable. However, the anti-black, hateful, vicious, character assisination that we are all witnessing right now...the slanderous, unsubstantiated attacks on Obama, go way, way, way beyond the pale.

 Kate...
Your remarks sounded more like a backhanded compliment than actual accolades to the neighborhood who worked hard to make a beautiful & colorful green space.
If you expect the best from people sometimes you will get it!!

In many NEO communitities, scrabbling for municipal operating cash has led to the licensing of big game hunting.
The biggest game in East Cleveland and Cleveland, Ohio is the BUCK. Image on downhill stretch of N.Taylor before reaching Euclid.
Who is reviewing this business? Do I see Frank Russo's decal on the speed cam?

Civic corruption comes in many forms. We have been hearing a lot about corruption these days. However, the focus is very narrow. Unnecessarily so.

Cuyahoga County Commissioners dug themselves a big financial hole by purchasing the Ameritrust property from Dick Jacobs. Now they are getting ready to dig a bigger hole for the Medical Mart.

Is RTA taking us on another ride? As a transit system, it seems more like a servant of the same old special interests when it should be taking care of transit-dependent citizens.

Autos have, and are, destroying Cleveland. This pedestrian bridge used to join neighborhoods over active rail road tracks. The bridge is still passable, but the tracks lack activity, so why hike up the stairs?
And the neighborhood now?
A trip...
