Ward 14 Makes me sick!

Submitted by ward14should_vote on Wed, 09/09/2009 - 18:20.

Ward 14 really makes me sick they all complain about Joe Santiago which has got so much accomplished compaired to the 8 years Cintron was in office. One big example is the houses that have been demolished and someone to inforce City Housing codes. Cintron never once set foot in Housing Court or had someone represent him. He allowed the houses in the ward to become down right discusting. Santiago came into office and worked hard to get 148+ houses demolished that Cintron simply didn't care about.

It's said that every piece of art tells a story, and Muriel Butkin certainly knew her art.

Now, with an online auction of much of what she and her husband, Noah, had collected, the public will see a greater glimpse of this very private couple's story, through the fine furniture, art and rare decorative objects they accumulated over their lifetimes.

JACKSON SCORES - "UN" - IMPRESSIVE VICTORY

For Mayor Frank Jackson a deep economic recession and an abysmally apathetic public made for a winning combination.

Leadership

Submitted by lmcshane on Wed, 09/09/2009 - 01:50.

Congratulations to Brian Cummins and Rick Nagin for prevailing in today's primary. I hope you both find the strength to lead and protect the residents of Ward 14 from the predation of developers out to make a buck off of us.

To Nelson Cintron--I express my utmost admiration for your tireless efforts to improve the lives of your friends, your neighbors, and your family who live in Ward 14, and who actually go to the public schools with union teachers in Ward 14.

Houses Beyond 2100???

Submitted by Charles Frost on Tue, 09/08/2009 - 18:29.

Beyond the year 2100 our children and our grandchildren will have to learn to adapt to the global warming situation, if they even hope to survive.

Numerous Science Fiction stories, novels, novellas, and movies have taken place in the "far-off future" where mankind has made our planet difficult or even unfit for humans to live on the surface of the planet. Most portray life below ground, much as life has been portrayed on the asteroid belt, with a rabbit warren of caves and tunnels, hewn out of the native rock.

"HATEMONGER" IS NEW TITLE IN COMMUNITY

Submitted by jerleen1 on Tue, 09/08/2009 - 15:45.

Today I received a call from someone I do not know informing me that my new name in the community is "Hatemonger."  This individual claimed to be my secret friend who had access to information and communications transpiring among some of those up in arms that I ask for fairness between the business owners and the residents.  I was informed that the dubbing of this title came as a result of my investigating and asking questions on the possible corruption, kickbacks and the favortism being doled out by the leadership in the neighborhood.

NATIONAL CITY BUILDING ASKS TAX REDUCTION

Hard to believe that it was 32 years ago that the first tax abatement for the National City Bank building at Euclid & E. 9th Street became a central issue in the defeat of a mayor. Presently, its new owners are seeking a $1,489,500 deduction in its value for tax purposes.

Sadhu Has Left The Country... will he have more impact in Cleveland and Chicago from Canada?

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Tue, 09/08/2009 - 10:40.

Thanks to REALNEO's lmcshane for pointing out one of the most interesting developments in the American "sustainability movement" ever - what appears to be Chicago's real news source, The Chicago Reader, broke the news, September 4, 2009, that "The Green Mayor's Green Policy Maker Leaves for Vancouver". This is the story of former Cleveland and Chicago area sustainability guru Sadhu Johnston, now set to become the deputy city manager of Vancouver.
