Based upon numerous conversations I have had with other tech
companies in the region - I wanted to connect with everyone and ask for help in
supporting the tech needs of New
Orleans – its businesses, non-profits, civic
organizations, etc. The City of New Orleans desperately needs to get its tech
infrastructure up and running, and truly there is no better infrastructure and
talent than what we have in the Cleveland region. I am asking for everyone
to join me and the City of Cleveland
in convening an emergency meeting next Tuesday, September 13 @ 10:00am. This
meeting will be held in the Board Room at Thompson Hine – located at 127 Public Square, Key Tower
– 39th Floor.
Immediate needs would be the following:

An opportunity to learn about
and celebrate this unique 88-acre former dredge disposal site that has
become naturalized. Everyone is welcome to come and discover the past,
present, and hopes for the future for this hidden treasure located in
the heart of Cleveland's lakefront.

This is a special bike ride where participants will begin their journey from the lower Harvard Avenue Canal Reservation Trailhead, just below ALCOA. (A) (9 a.m.) From here, they will bike 6 miles to Rockside Rd. and board the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railrod with bike (10:15 a.m.) for a trip to Peninsula. At Peninsula they will depart, (11:15 am) and cycle back to Zeleznick's (Z) for a Bar-B-Que (1-4 p.m.).

On October 11, 2005, the NEO Excellence Roundtable will feature City of Cleveland Sustainability Programs Manager Andrew Watterson to discuss successes and opportunities for our core city and region to lead the country and world as an environmentally-friendly and sustainable community. In a presentation Andrew made on "the State of Our Environment", at a recent meeting of the Ohio League of Conservation voters, I learned Cleveland is already a leader with sustainability, in many important ways, by adding hybrid vehicles to the city fleet and enacting an anti-idling policy intended to reduce emissions and fuel consumption (by 10%)... see Hotel Bruce for details. New Traveling Exhibition Focusing on Nanobiotechnology
HealthSpace Cleveland, Northeast Ohio’s new destination for health education, shared learning and family fun, presents the traveling exhibition, “It’s a Nano World,” opening Thursday, October 14 and continuing through Sunday, January 9, 2005. The exhibition, encompassing approximately 3,000 sq. ft., focuses on the smallest of our world’s biological wonders through a series of hands-on interactives, displays and audio-visual presentations. School groups and families with younger children will find this exhibition of particular interest as they explore a series of large magnifying instruments, scopes, scales, and even a giant blood drop pit.

Henry Cisneros, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develpment under President Clinton, now heads CityView, a community-building company. CityView is dedicated to producing workforce homes in the central neighborhoods of America's urban areas by identifying sites, planning neighborhoods, acquiring and developing land, financing communities, and buiding homes. With his wife, Mary Alice, Cisnerso is also the founder of American Sunrise, a community-based non-profit organization focused on homeownership for working families and after-school curricula for central city children.
