A Troll Named Kroll - Time For The PD To Be Real About The New Media and REALNEO

Submitted by Norm Roulet on Sun, 01/10/2010 - 14:05.

The administrators of REALNEO (I believe Jeff Schuler, Jeff Buster and myself) received an email yesterday, via the contact link on REALNEO, from John Kroll. Mr. Kroll is the "Director of Training and Digital Development for The Plain Dealer". That he contacted us in this way, regarding the matter he raises, clearly demonstrates a problem with the Cleveland Plain Dealer operating in the New Economy - they consider themselves above our community, yet are trolls.

2009 Holiday Lighting Display at GE Lighting & Electrical Institute, Nela Park, East Cleveland, Ohio, in Snowfall

Christmas Eve, my family drove across East Cleveland (all 3 miles long) to Nela Park - The GE Lighting & Electrical Institute - to see their remarkable, historic Holiday Lighting Display and share some photos on REALNEO. While beautiful at the time, the conditions were not quite right to truly show-off the lights and season.

The conditions were perfect tonight.

One thing that makes East Cleveland unique is the annual Holiday Lighting Display at GE Lighting & Electrical Institute, at Nela Park. A tradition since 1925 - and many of the decorations seem to date from then - this holiday lighting display runs through New Year's Day.

beyond the pale - Donald Barthelme

Submitted by Susan Miller on Mon, 12/21/2009 - 08:31.

In the wake of last night's little squabble here on realneo, a friend emailed me with a link to the origin of the phrase "beyond the pale". S/he said that though it was the phrase that came to mind while reading through, she had never looked up the origin. I had looked this up, "beyond the pale", because I was a tireless researcher, learner when I was an artistic director, and one of the works we did - a duet, used this text.

The Monster Bush: A poem by Max Eternity (2005)

Submitted by Eternity on Tue, 12/15/2009 - 15:04.

In a smirking rage, he howls for more
Jesus on his lips
Horror in his heart

The monster Bush now lives

Stolen elections
Domestic terror
And the blood of 911

The monster Bush hungers for more

The Carlyle Group
The Enron scam
Religious fever
And the 'accidental' murder of Paul Wellstone

It's not enough, the monster craves more and more

So on to Iraq
And the murder of thousands of Americans Soldiers
While spilling the blood of nameless Arabs
