I was very surprised to see our neighbor and friend Kurt Weaver featured in the stodgy, old PD.  I was even more amazed to find out that Steven Litt followed up on the story to reveal Kurt's real thoughts about Cleveland architecture. 

A while back, I posted this Pittsburgh-based site www.mymave.com as a place to advertise your skills.  Last night, talking to Ed Hauser--who described marketing his problem-solving talents--I realized that this is still available and free to anyone who has a skill to market. 

It cracks me up to see kids come in to the library to sing!  They plug in the headphones and start grooving to a tune on line and the next thing you know I have to go into shhhh! mode.
Is there a way to tap this energy?  So,  who is mining this? 

We all need neighbors.  They help us out in times of need.  They also drive us crazy.  What to do?  Tomorrow is another day.  Let's hope it heals the unnecessary rifts that divide.

Ted--I just want to let you know that I called and I suspect many others called after Dick Feagler's Sunday column to cancel their subscription to the PD.  Here is Dick Feagler's logic in a nutshell:  if you see a black person, run away.  He calls it realism.  I call it racism.

See this face.  Is it hard to believe that this woman took on the establishment in New York and forced planners to consider the human element in the design of cities? 

Any agency in Cleveland contemplating radical change to the streetscape should ask themselves.  What would Jane think of your idea?

I've known enough musicians in my lifetime to know that recognition is important.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located here.  Does that mean anything at all?

We know that Cleveland does not lead the country among U.S. cities for new business creation.  But, how many Clevelanders work for publishers based in other cities?  Do "our" writers, designers, and illustrators pull the heavy writing and creative process for other cities?

In my twenties, I worked for the Cleveland Metroparks and I did not own a car.  I rode the bus places and I walked and walked, or rode my bike.  One of the places I loved to visit was Bedford, Ohio.

What makes a realNEO candidate   REAL?  Money?  Business support? Life experience? A newspaper endorsement?

Cleveland is rightfully championing local hero Mike Symon for his national recognition.  Tremont has hung a banner in his honor.  We should all be thankful, at this time of year, to live in a part of the country that knows how to live well.

I just got back from hearing Sherman Alexie speak at the Cleveland Public Library.   My sides hurt from laughing so much and, yet, at the same time, I want to cry.  His voice is true and his message needs to be heard.

I hope to see this story receive wider notice and attention.
